How to be a better forumer

So... I've been here a bit and I'd like to get some feedback. Most people have seen a post or two of mine and I was wondering what I can do to improve. I've learned a ton about computers on this forum and I'd love to give back but I'd love to know how to get better at doing it. Thanks for your help!

School ya know, teachers get super pissed when I'm done my work and I  get on the computer. They get mad at me for trying to be productive. Middle school -.-

Okay I should know this, and I did. But someone explain too me (as I'm in Australia and we don't have the same schooling system) What grades/years is Middle school? Like all we have here is Primary (Elementary) School, and high school. Primary is Prep (pre-school type thing) - Year 6 and Year 7 - Year 12

That varies a lot actually by area, even within some countries.  Here, we have elementary (K - 6), junior high (7 - 9) and high school (10 - 12) but I know there are other systems in other provinces

Ahh yes, that ticks a light bulb. I suppose Australia only having around 24 million people means they don't need an extra school to hold all the kids. Thanks!

Most middle school in Canada is 6,7, and 8 but here we have primary K-8 I just said Middle School because I thought more people would recognize it. And whats wrong with comic sans? I like it as a font... Well, I gotta add more stuff to it anyway so might as well change it once I get to waterloo.

Fair enough, thanks for the clarification You seem to be around the same age group as I am. We're both mature for our ages hey? Hahaha.

Yeah I once had this huge argument defending people our age. It was multiple pages long and my biggest argument.

You should post in areas where you can give constructive information. If for example you know nothing about DAC recommendations, you should stay away from threads that deal with that, and let the experts respond. Please do not respond with any kind of spammy posts as they will be promptly removed as soon as we see them. 

 

So ultimately, post constructive content that will help the user. If you wish to post nonsense, we have the Off Topic Chit-Chat thread for that which can be found here.

well, this is kinda how i see it:

you're here to help other people, and have them learn something for you.

in the same way, you need to accept theres others around you that you'll be able to learn something from.

Small things.

• Use multiquote
• Don't quote all images or whole first post. Or any longer post. If you need to quote whole post, use spoilers or break it to parts.
• When paste text, remove formatting. Reading black text on white bg while using Night theme is just horrible.
• Follow Community Standards and use common sense.
• Report anything you feel like you be seen by staff. If its posts concerning LMGs content, sponsors or ads, just tag [at]nicklmg to thread.
• Don't reply if you aren't 80% sure about what you are talking about. We all make mistakes and spread misinformation. But its best if you can correct someone whose talking nonsense or learn from someone correcting you.
• Post threads about any issues you encounter with forum software to Bugs and Issues subforum. So @colonel_mortis can get on top of them.

I'm sure there's more I'd like everyone to do better. But these are things that at the moment annoy me or which will make forums better one post/-er at the time.
