What is OP tryna do? Be able to plug in his 598's no? now he's just asking stupid question like "should I get the hd 800?" when he wanted to know how to plug in his new headphones in...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Well normally you get the adapter with the headphones and now he is asking about the HD 800. I am also a little confused.

What can we do...rest in pepperonis...

Also, if you're asking whether you need an AMP and think a $250 AMP is high end then maybe the HD800s aren't for you. :D

should i have bought the 558s

Why would you rather want the 558s now?
I don't think there is a big difference between the two anyway.

Here is a comparison between the two.

Where did you buy the HD 598s?

On amazon an adapter is mentionened and on the sennheiser website the adapter is mentioned in the spec sheet.

I can do this, I just want some cake. - Linus Sebastian

Well a magni 2 can power the HD 800 with no problem.
