Gpus don't quite work that way.

Nvidia and Intel especially don't actually really drop prices on old gear at all. The reason you see new stuff more expensive at launch, is the new tech price premium that gets slapped on it, which eventually drops over time.

At launch expect nothing more than a 10% discount on ~some~ gpus, from ~some~ retailers who want to get the products off their shelves.

Buying used is a 100% different story. At launch the market gets flooded with used gpus & cpu's people are selling trying to get a hold of the new gear.

Prices on old stuff likely won't drop much, if at all and the price drops if they do occur will be done by retailers, not NVIDIA. However you'll see TONS of used stuff up on EBay the day the GTX X80 and X70 come out.

I´d liek to thank you for that dumb Answer. To explain myself: I thought it could be the same as with the Prices of NVIDIA by Release. I read a post a couple Days ago showing that every new GPU was arround the same Price. Thanks again, dumbass

to be fair, this type of question cant be given a straight answer,

if you dont like his answer, skip through it

ikr, like he didn't even allude to that. Like, shieeeeeeeeeet- I'm just gonna say sorry cause I'm Canadian.

I'll just be neutral in this, then.

But yeah, as some have pointed out. It's pretty much impossible to predict what the prices will be like. Most of the time they are being sold at slightly cheaper, only so that they can get rid of their stock. But don't expect anything drastic.

If you want something drastically cheaper, then look at eBay once the new ones are out. That's where people will sell off their used stuff for way cheaper, so that they can afford the newer stuff.

'Price drops' on the used market (for CPUs and GPUs) tend to rely on a number of factors, which make them difficult to predict.  It usually happens after retailers don't carry that gen anymore and the demand has diminished.

Just for point of reference, Kepler still ain't that cheap, because it's still kinda viable.  The gtx 760 used is probably only marginally cheaper than a 950.  Still a lot cheaper than launch, but I can remember previous gens falling in price a lot faster.

Another thing to point out is how cheap the 980 is going for on ebay, because of the 970 and r9 390 staying relatively strong in real world performance for less money, coupled with the release of the 980 ti, sorta leaving no room for the 980.  Things like that can affect demand/price.

To be honest dude your answer contributed nothing to the op's question, and only pushed the idea that you're a bit douchy.

It was a legitimate question, to wave it off with a vauge meme is pretty damn douchy imo.

I realize not a ton of people follow the guidelines for the community, but being "accepting" to new members goes without saying.

I guess the new ones won't see price drops on the day of release.. But what would happen is bleeding edge enthusiasts would sell off their 970/980/980ti off on eBay which would reduce prices over there (supply increase) as a result we would see a decrease in demand for brand new 9xx cards and that might lead to sights like Amazon having "special sales/offers "on them in(and for ) a short while .FYI we (in India ) are already having sales.for GPUs (these are mostly 970s and a few 980Tis )...the discount is about 10-25%(note lower for 980Tis and special editions like strix ,g1 or artic storm/amp)  and a year or two later (I hope earlier.. I want that second 980ti )

We would see those prices coming again and that would be the "prize cut" .

FYI I state this with experience on 7xx series and Many many mobiles (99%of which are android.. So cut throat compete might be a reason)

So look out on EBay (quikr/olx if you are in India )

Not gonna happen in India that quick I guess the cards will find our coast at least 2-3 months after that reach Us and Europe also by then most bleeding edge enthusiasts would get them shipped (even more taxes charges and headaches ) via amazon international ,eBay geb or aliexpress so those who want 1080 would have them and those who don't would wait until they can't play games on cards they have or their current cards die on them (I am not in the first wave because claiming a warranty would be real pain in the ass and earlier runs do tend to fail)

GPU prices don't drop and if it does, not by much where you'll save a huge difference. Same applies to getting SLI. Buy one now and get 2nd when it's cheaper. This does not work, by the time when the 2nd card does get cheaper, you're already 2-3 series behind and getting that 2nd card in SLI, is still out performed by the newer single card.
