Fan on top of a fan.

I wanna put a fan on top of a fan in my rig. I think it looks cool. Will it affect anything negatively? Vibrations? Etc? Is this a good idea? SP120 Corsair fans connected together and then screwed into the case firmly.

I don't think that's a good idea, I don't know but it doesn't sound right.

Air pressure, also I've tried and have been told not to do it many times.

So in theory, airflow is going to be degraded by adding a second fan?

If the fans are facing the same way, its fine. It will increase airflow.

 

If you like how it looks, go for it. But if you just want better performance, you should get a single, more powerful fan.

Now I don't know what to believe. One person tells me it's bad don't do it and second person tells me it increases airflow so it's good....

it increases air flow, but the vibration sound might be very bad though

They will be facing same direction to get air our of the case. They are quiet fans so I don't think it's gonna be that bad not to mention I have fan controller buit in my case. So if I need that extra airflow I can crank it up to performance along with h115i and it's all good.

im not sure if its a great idea tbh

it might create a lot of noise due to turbulence and what not

 

i dont study fluid dynamics so i wouldnt know `-`

It's not the noise I'm afraid of. Any other thing might scare me / do something.  That's why I ask on forum first.

2 fans = more noise

 

2 non-identical fans = a lot more noise

 

2 identical fans = more static pressure, which translates to slightly more airflow through a radiator

 

2 non-identical fans = better performance than 2x the weaker fan but worse performance than 2x the good fan

 

if one of the fans is really bad, it could reduce the airflow from the second fan making it worse than just one good fan

 

overall its not worth the noise increase, unless you use two identical quiet fans, in which case you would get a bit more performance

 

if you want to use two fans for looks, chose two identical fans and remember to run them at the same speed

I posted a picture,  it's in one of the posts above. I have 2x Quiet Red Led Corsair 120mm fans. They are 100% quiet edition ones.

its not on a radiator, so it will pretty much be useless there

 

if you dont mind the noise and you want the looks, then sure go ahead, nothing will be damaged or anything

Thank you! I'd put it on the radiator but screws are blocking it so I can't really.
