is getting a SATA to IDE adapter worth it?

I have some old hardware that id like to have some fun with, but it dosent have a SATA port, only a coupple of IDE ones so is it worth getting an adapter because i have some old harddrives i could use for it so should i? i dont know if it would be worth it to get one just to faf about with some old and useless crap so what do you think?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

I don't know about SATA to IDE, but you can get IDE to USB adapters very cheap.

Also external USB docks for IDE drives.

 Almost as cool as my temps

I use a usb to sata and ide adapter that has power supply, Its occasionally fun but I mean if $25 is a lottery to you then no, if its a trivial amount then go for it

well USB wouldent let me boot off it probably so i want IDE to SATA

You can boot from usb, at least past 2001 since thats the earliest pc I used. Just put usb first in the bios boot order. It should read the same as anyother external hdd or flash memory.

Actually, you can usually boot off USB drives, it'd be painfully slow though (though it will generally be painfully slow with the IDE drive)

 Almost as cool as my temps

why not get a old ide drive ?

You should rather get a PCI or PCI-E card to enable Sata on the old machine.
