What do you put up with in your Rig?

eXyLe

My GPU is a GTX 560Ti, overclocked edition from Zotac.

It also sounds like a jet engine, and is nearly as hot as one... Often reaching 100 degrees on load...

Yet I still haven't upgraded or swapped it out.

So my Question is, what do you put up with in your setup?

System:

  • Sharkoon T9 case
  • i7 - 2600k @ Stock
  • Coolermaster 212 evo
  • Gigabyte GA-Z68-UD3H-B3 Motherboard
  • Corsair Vengeance 4x4GB
  • Nvidia GTX 780 EVGA Classified edition
  • Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD
  • Samsung 840120GB SSD

I would feel better with a more powerful power supply and a better case. But overall my machine never struggles with anything I actually do with it aside from stupid benchmarks. And it is very quiet to boot.

My rig: 2600k(4.2 GHz) w/ Cooler Master hyper 212+, Gigabyte Z68-UD3H-B3, Powercolor 7870 xt(1100/1500) w/AIO mod,

8GB DDR3 1600, 120GB Kingston HyperX 3K SSD, 1TB Seagate, Antec earthwatts 430, NZXT H2

Verified max overclock, just for kicks: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2609399

My case, it is an old Antec p180 that has stood the test of time awesomely but man it is rough lol fans are dead, case is scratched to hell (brushed aluminum) and it is missing half of the drive cages. Also my stupid cx750m cables.

One of my drives starts resonating with the chassis from time to time - I usually solve that by kicking the case.

Ideally I would like to figure out which drive it is that causes the vibration, however, it's very random and I have lots of drives to test so I can never bother to get to it.

Cheers,

Linus

my GPU fan (in sig) when it goes over ~2000rpm it magically turns into the loudest jet engine amplified by a 4000 Watt sound system, no idea why any speed lower than that it is perfect. Also H100i stock fans at high RPM are a nightmare sooo loud but when on quite mode have a weird whirring noise that drives me insane

MSi Reference R6950 with it's turbine fan that tops out at 6,000 RPM. My fan curve puts it around 4,500 RPM while gaming... luckily I can barely hear it over my sound system.

It being incomplete and the Storage drives (both HDD and SSD) not being mounted to anything. Just sitting there.

Edit: On the "incomplete" note, I just bought my 32GB of RAM (4x8GB). Kingston HyperX 10th Anniversary edition. Me likey.

I also have to deal with getting a faulty processor for a lower end build, I believe it is a A4-5300. It has taken 3 weeks to get it RMA'd and will continue this weekend hopefully

my twinfrozr 3 (sounds like a jet engine) and lack of waterloop in a 800D makes my system quiet hot in a watercooling-style case + texas heat

One of the assist fans on my motherboard is behind the top PCI x1 slot it's raised above the thermal armor and stops my from being able to put my soundcard in the top slot, I have to put it between my 660 Ti's which increases the temp of my primary GPU about 7c above my secondary one.

myself. always wanting to add more stuff to my rig.

I even recently thought that once I get a custom loop going I should custom mount my xbox mobo to my pc and run the loop through that as well, and then get an input video card (cost around $150) and permanently connect my xbox mobo to my pc and basically have my xbox work through my pc. I changed my mind after I heard that Naruto is getting a pc release though, since that's the only console only release that really made me play xbox (that and now GTA V but that's coming to pc anyway)

also I gotta put up with my CPU fan going mad when I try overclocking beyond 4.6 GHz, and at 4.6 GHz my idle temps are between 30-40 which is basically ambient temps (sometimes a bit higher than ambient by 5-10C) so I guess it can't be helped.
