Ridiculous Ethernet Ping Spikes

Hi guys just posting this thread because im quite confused as to why my Ping spikes HARD in games (1000+ ping) and i usually get about 1mbs down (through steam) on my Ethernet 15Mbs connection i think my culprit is my crappy cisco DPC3825 router and modem combo (which is provided by isp) but im also quite confused by how even a horrible router would affect Ethernet connection so strongly that i get ping spike on servers very close to me
