The new Razer Blackwidow X

Stripped of its top, the new Razer BlackWidow X Chroma flaunts a premium metal surface. The exposed military-grade metal top mounting plate has been present in the Razer BlackWidow line since the beginning, and we realised that bringing that up opens up a new aesthetic choice for our fans.

Besides that, the switches now have a durability of up to 80million keystrokes (used to be 60million). Another thing they've done is lowered the price by $10 (from $169 to $159 for the normal BWX, and from $139 to $129 for the Tournament Edition, and from $109 to $99 for the Blackwidow Ultimate) which to them, seemed like a lot.

(thanks to @ThatCoolBlueKidd) The CEO of Razer said on Facebook that they're going to offer Cherry switches. I've looked all over their site and couldn't find anything related to the Cherry switches for the BWX, so we'll see

(thanks to @SurvivorNVL) According to Tom's Hardware, Razer does have Cherry MX switches on some of their new Blackwidow X keyboards, but those keyboards won't have the RGB lighting. The two keyboard that'll offer the Cherry MX switches are the Blackwidow X Ultimate, and Blackwidow X TE (although once again, I couldn't find them on Razer's online store. Could be they aren't yet listed).

Things to notice about the Blackwidow X:

 

1. $10 cheaper (both standard and chroma versions)

2. Cherry MX Switches instead of "premium razer switches"

3. No top protective plate

 

Razer finally made a good keyboard.

On the Razer forums it didn't say it had Cherry MX keys, I'll update that into the main post.

Still has cheap razer switches and they always break. I do like the metal. Took note from the K70 and up

Well, couple of weeks ago I have played GTA 5 for around 4 hours straight on the Blackwidow .... Still can't feel one of my fingers in my left hand - don't get me wrong, I lvoe the keyboard, but I hope it didn't cause nerve damage.

Something we can all also note about these new keyboard lines is that they're using the new-new Razer switches, where they're now semi-privately maintaing tight R&D on the switch tolerances and are using more premium plastics.  The expectation is 80,000,000 keystrokes per key.  I need to get one and investigate.

You might just have weak hands, honestly.  I've used everything from Gateron Clears(35g) to Super Blacks(120g) and I've never felt that kind of feeling and I type upward of 225wpm.

It doesn't have anything to do with weak hands or the pressure required to use the keyboard - I was holding my hand in a bad position and the pressure in my whrist caused the numnbess... following on the Razer's advice included in the manual, I have immediately contacted a medical professional. Being in Europe, I received tons of money, bought myself a new PC and got a tattoo #welfarecaseload ... Ok, that's last part was a joke

What's the pressure required for BW?

Blackwidow?  The greens are 55g and the orange are 45g.  Plus or minus 5g.  The Gateron yellows are 55g with no force curve, so it's a solid 55g top to bottom.  Original Gateron yellows were 140g I believe.  Those things are trucks.

Good keyboard? I'm sorry but no media buttons or volume wheel means its not a great keyboard.

 

Ever since my Logitech g510 (the one with a little screen, in which I receive my news, receive real-time fraps benchmarks, the time, etc, plus RGB lighting.) included these, I am NEVER going back. It is just SOOO inneficient...

 

Having to press more than 1 key multiple times instead of just scrolling with 1 finger? NOPE. 

 

My logitech keyboard is still going strong, even after half a decade. Whenever I upgrade, it will be to the Corsair K70 RGB. (Not as good since no screen, but at least media button and wheel).
