Interested in a new CPU from the other side

Alright, so I'm getting my new desktop and I might consider getting a new FX processor. The socket my motherboard can fit is LGA 1150. My friend told me there are certain AMD Processor sockets that can fit in Intel sockets. Is this true and which AMD Socket works with motherboards that have the CPU Socket LGA 1150?

Uh, no. That's not how it works. You cannot put an AMD CPU into a motherboard with an Intel socket.

Your friend is either ignorant or he is trolling you. No, you can't fit an AMD processor on an Intel motherboard

You cant fit AMD cpu on LGA 1150 or any other "intel" socket mate.

There are pins on intel motherboards and no pins on intel cpus there are pins on AMD CPUS and no pins on AMD mobos, they dont fit together.

Not necessarily an upgrade, but yes, you would need a new motherboard for an AMD cpu.

Unless youre talking about stuff from two decades ago, no you cannot put AMD CPUs in intel motherboards or the other way around

 

If your motherboard right now is 1150 then buying an FX processor would be a downgrade

why would you want to do that

If you want a new CPU, get a better LGA1150 CPU like a 4690K if you have a Z97 board.

Socket 7 accepted both Intel and AMD processors. AMD was the performance leader in that era.
