And what im saying is that they waited way too long to release a niche flagship card

it is just two fury Xs, so it is impossible for it to perform any better than two separate fury Xs or 980tis

Now AMD is releasing this flagship card months before two brand new GPU architectures

It will be last gen in less than a year, then enthusiasts will buy the better options

Do you see anyone buying the 295x2 now that fury X and 390x and 980ti exist?

Sure its "exclusive" and rare, but its last gen

Why would an enthusiast buy last gen hardware

Its typical lazy AMD Behaviour.

well then they can claim its the fastest "graphics card"

even though its not the fastest GPU

yeah i never said it wasnt

i said that very few people need a gpu that size, and even fewer people have $3000 for it

so this gpu makes sense for only a handful of people

and no, developers have large pc cases if they need this much power, most dont restrict themselves to mitx or whatever

This card isn't even targeted at enthusiasts, it's a hybrid between a FirePro and a Radeon. The card has a TDP of 350W, as much as two Nano's, but without thermal throttling. It's a good product, no matter how badly you want it to be bad.

you still havent proven anything that ive said wrong

your "its not targeted at enthusiasts" claim is clearly not what AMD has said about it

maybe  if you can come up with some proof that it will magically perform better than two Fury Xs or 980tis or the next pascal/polaris flagships then I will believe you

Or maybe you think that $1500 is less than $1200 and it has better price performance?

https://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/AMD-launches-dual-Fiji-card-Radeon-Pro-Duo-targeting-VR-developers-1500

VR developers will want high performance now, not later, and it will probably perform around the same as two Fury Xs, but with massively less power consumption. This card has 16Tflops of SP compute, Pascal will cap out at 12, it generally takes two generations for dual cards to loose their edge.

To be fair AMDs \ ATIs strategy has always been to build 2 scaleable GPUs and throw them together. Nothing new. Nvidia dabbled in it as well.

High density compute is nice.

What I see as the biggest advantage of the pro duo for me as a consumer is that it doesn't require a eATX board with a bazillion graphic card slots AND that because the fury x features an enclosed loop for the beginning i can only fit 2 maybe three in a 360 rad (I don't really know how thick and long they really are and it would be great if someone told me since I can't find their actual rad sizes). Because of this I could easily fit TWO or even THREE pro duos in my rig because my board only allows 2 way SLI and three-way crossfire. (I only have a 360 rad location to mount the GPU AIO's)

they dont do this because the fury x isnt as fast as the 980 ti in dx11 game they are doing this because they release a card like this for every generation since like the 3870 x2

how is it lazy if this is something we expect them to do every generation

Because why not. AMD better get a dual polaris out on time now.

but 12 per card, not 6 per card

so with two cards you could theoretically get 24

and idk about you, but 24 for less money seems like a better deal than 16 for more money...

And you can already get high performance now

two 980tis will perform better than the Duo and cost less

so why would developers want to downgrade their performance for $1500?

the peak compute of the 980 ti is 5.63 tflops so if it has 100% scaling two would bring it to 11.26 tflops while the fury x2 has 16 tflops

and they appears to have accounted for scaling with the 16 tflop number because a regular fury x has 8.6 tflops so with perfect scaling its 17.2 but of course you cant get that

So you're assuming pascal will be the same as the 980ti? lol

Maybe look at some gaming benchmarks too, how many tflops a card has does not = more performance

Especially developers that use cuda, as you can see from every amd vs nvidia benchmark

But this isnt an AMD vs nvidia argument

This is AMD's own cards vs this card too

This card is just two fury Xs, of course polaris will be cheaper and perform better

Why is that so difficult for you to understand? Are you just a kid with the "more expensive is better" mentality?
