Linus Media Group, What do they do?

Sean_A91

So, I'm kinda new to the linus stuff, I've seen videos for a long time but only recently became a daily watcher, and an active member of the forums, but, I really don't know much about them beyond whats in the videos, What is Linus Media Group all about? How do they make money? Are they a separate entity to Linus Tech Tips? I'm mostly curious because Linus seems to be very busy often, but he has at least like, 7 or more people working under him.

They make Youtube Videos on channels such as : LinusTechTips, TechQuickie, and Channel Super Fun. They also make commercials for companies, mostly computer hardware and peripherals.

I like to kill hardware. In 2016 alone I have killed 20 Xeon 5160, and 10+ Pentium 4.

The videos are about it. They have 3 channels both on youtube and vessel and their income is based on views and paid sponsorships.

"What is Linus Media Group all about?"

It is about the channels LinusTechTips, Techquikie, Channel Super Fun (and in the future Nerd Sports) and all the stuff around those channels.

"How do they make money?"

They make videos and due to the adsense, integrated commercials and other deal they make money.

"Are they a separate entity to Linus Tech Tips?"

You can see them as a seperate entity to LinustechTips, as the LTT branding is used on the main channel and this forum and LMG stands above that (as well as the branding of the other channels), but it is run by the same people, so yeah.

Its not a guy, its a company

LTT sends them their content, Denis helps translate the scripts

They upload it in chinese or other asian languages and then LTT makes some profit

Thanks a bunch all, Especially you Minibois, Helped me understand things, I wasn't aware of all these other channels, I wonder if it wouldn't be better to just combine some/all of them.

No problem :)

It's probably best to keep these channels separate though (you now have a general channel (LinusTechTips), an explanation video (TechQuickie) and a random fun things channel (ChannelSuperFun)). You dont want CSF videos on the main channel and you want all explanation videos at the same place so new  viewers of the channel will watch one video and be suggested a lot more, thus making you watch more of those videos.

I do however think it would probably be a good idea to kinda keep these channels closer to each other though, but in recent videos on especially LTT you have seen them say/link to CSF videos sometimes.
