Oculus Rift on a GTX980?

AIJ
Go to solution Solved by suchamoneypit,

Depends on what you play. According to the manufacturers, the 970 is the entry level VR gaming GPU. So technically your 980 should be fine.

A 970 also passes the steam VR test, just barely classifies as "ready".

Hey,

I was wondering if an OC'ed GTX 980 (more precisely the Gigabyte XTREME gaming one) good to run an oculus rift smoothly?

thx in advance

it will depend what you are running...but for current tech demos and stuff it's more than enough...but overtime they will release more advanced games and more demanding stuff and like everything else it will no longer cut it...but for the time being it will be fine...but i think the VIVE is much better, make sure you check them out before you pull the trigger on one.

By the way, a 980 should do fine for VR :)

Everything being sold on the oculus store will run at 90fps on i5 4590/8 GB ram/r9 290/970

anything below that is not guaranteed

everything sold outside of their store is up to the developers
