It's true, they are very similar, but there wasn't much wrong with BF3, so they didn't really need to add in any groundbreaking new mechanics. I don't really know what they could have added, BF is the line between the fun arcade shooter and serious military war simulation (Like Arma). Changing too much will lead it either too far into a fun arcade game, or a military simulator. BF likes to just be there, in the middle, attracting an audience from both sides.

They probably put more of the graphical power into the breaking buildings, water physics, and what nots.

this is why I don't think bf4 will need 3gb of vram,  its not like they spent 12341234 years remaking the whole thing from the ground up. They probably just took bf3, added a few extra leaves on trees and said wallah lol

Also, Youtube compression makes it so that you can't see the details that make BF4 look good unlike what it would be on your monitor. I know youtube compresses 720p footage to 3mbps and 1080p to 5mbps. Those are terribad bitrates...

Commander mode is not in bf3..... do more research on bf4 and they have changed some things that SHOULD impact the way the game will play compaired to how bf3 play but we wont know really until the beta at the end of this month early next month till we actually play the game.

I really hate to say this, but expect little to no change in the tech behind the visuals in games for at least the next 8 years.

Its an EA game. They never improve anything. They just slap new names on games and rerelease them every year... milking it for as much money as possible till they ruin/kill of the game.

its not a new game engine. it's just 100% instead of the 20% (or whatever it was) that was previously used. you'll feel more emersed and there will be new dynamics, but other then that, nothing massively new.

metro on bf3 got boring though, would much rather see an evolution in the game.. did i say evolution? i meant levolution ;D

I see alot of diffreneces but you can't forget that Battlefield is a Multiplayer game so it has to run on 60FPS and there isn't much room to make it look better.
You can't have Crysis 3 Graphics in a Multiplayer game and for sure not with big Maps.

There's only so much you want to risk in changing an already winning formula and there's only so much that can be changed in a modern FPS war game. Probably why COD was/is the way it is. I guess DICE has seen that you can just release essential the same game every year and it'll still be mega popular.
