@Dabombinable, @Enderman

gonna tag you two. because you two are going to LOVE seeing this.

@don_svetlio, @Benji_w

guess ill tag you too, so you can drool over my sexy Sabertooth board :P

It is back, i haz it once more... The FX 8320 that ive OCd to 4.52GHz

Finally i can do sum benchmarkz and see how it performs under DX12 etc...

And those were not there before, but those sticks of RAM are 2x8GB 1600MHz CL8 Crucial Ballistics Tactical Tracers (Blue/Orange LEDs. Can switch between colors and pulsing mode)

Don't need to. The 8320 will flame away for us. OHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I know it's a 9590 in the video, I am just joking. Please do not take me seriously.

Cinebench R15

Valley + Heaven for GPU

Winrar 10GB pack/unpack? maybe. I know FX excels retardedly well at this

3DMark suit (i got the test suite you can buy/install on Steam)

games:
Ashes of the Singularity (yes, ive bought the alpha a long time ago, just to do tests)

Tomb Raider 2013 (CPU Agnostic, however it will show how weak the cores are at drawcalls)
Far Cry 4? maybe?

Witcher 3 fo sho

Arma 3?
Ryse Son of Rome?

dunno, i got 100+ steam-games (i'm a bit picky with my games). So i got a few to choose from.

Either way, i plan to test with 2400MHz Memory, but my Sabertooth board is only rated for 1866Mhz max. SO i highly doubt ill be able to make it run 2400Mhz without issues :|
On the other hand, my i7 setup has 32GB of 1866Mhz DDR3... So technically i could rip out two sticks from that kit and make sure the FX and i7 4790k both run 16GB of 1866MHz DDR3.... Atleast then timings and everything will be equal for CPU test purposes.

I will also look into ALU disabling in benchmarks/Forcing benchmarks to run specific "cores" through task manager. On win7 this could cause the CBR15 score to increase by 3-5 points consistently.

that is why you do NOT buy MSI boards for AMD..... because while a 9590 can make shit burn. a 8350 can make it smolder over a longer time before it dies.

My motherboard is also rated at 1866 but works fine with my 2400MHz ram

What matters is if the ram is on the motherboard QVL list or not, because if it is then that means its been tested and works

my motherboard has been tested with ram over 3000MHz too, so that goes to show that with XMP the memory frequency on the specs list doesnt mean anything :)

@Prysin, are you able tell me whether the Sabretooth or the Crosshair Formula-Z is better. Because I could never find an answer, so I went with the ROG board in the end because it looked so pretty. It was very expensive though, £200.

Quality wise, they should be the same. But the ROG boards have more  features (more things to fail). And in general, is aimed for performance. Whilst the Sabertooth line seems to be aimed towards absolute stability and functionality.

I mean, sure, the ROG boards are nice, but one thing i DO miss when i went from my Sabertooth to a ROG z97 HERO board was the connectivity. The sheer amount of USB and SATA ports i had at hand..... Sure i may not have PCIe Gen3, but at 42 PCIe Gen2 lanes (38 usable for GPUs and other things. 4 reserved for the chipset itself).... well, you'd be hard pressed to find any CF performance issues with this board.

@Citadelen
Dont quote me on it though. Asus may have a different opinion on their websites. i dunno, just my observation of their products.

Oh and if anyone is wondering why the text on my CPU is almost gone. Its cuz ive torn that system apart so many times the TIM cleaner has started to eat away the text.....

@Enderman

Seems like the QVL list goes up to a 2500 G.Skill.
My sticks of memory is not featured, but a different Kingston kit with almost identical settings (few timing differences i think) are approved for 2400MHz.granted, the IMC in use in FX is pretty bad. It cannot handle 4x 1866MHz DDR3 without putting up a fight. But two sticks of any type of memory seems to work fine.

It may come down to Hypertransport though, which only has a set amount of bandwidth for a CPU to memory connection. although, since the 990FX chipset and FX CPU uses Hypertransport 3.1, which has 51GB/s bandwidth limit, it shouldnt be a issue. But meh, i know the limits of this board, so if i need to OC shit to make it work, i am much more confident doing so on my FX board then on my i7 intel setup.. Not because i am worried it cannot take it, but because the menus and well, i have little faith in my ROG HERO board for some reason. It simply doesnt feel like a overclocking board.

I mean, have you ever handled a 990FX Sabrtooth board? They got serious weight to them, enough so that slapping anyone with one of these boards would cause serious injuries.

Show us something special :)

i can get it to 4.75 but it isnt stable enough to run it at those speeds 24/7.

4.52GHz allows me to run Prime95 for 15 hours straight without any failures or errors...
