most Strangest/Worst thing found inside your/customers computer

PC repairers, what is the strangest/worst thing you have ever encountered in a customers computer (This includes tons of dust)

Also, what was the customers reaction when they heard what the problem was?

2 things happened to me personally:

1.I had just come back from a holiday and when I turned it on, I failed to notice the 3cm thick layer of dust on top of the case get sucked in. Then when playing a game my computer randomly BSODed. opened it up and the GPU and CPU Heatsinks were completely clogged with dust. needless to say, after that i put heavy duty dust filters on my PC

2. after going away for the weekend, I noticed a four odor coming from my PC. I though it was a blown capacitor suddenly catching fire but a mouse had died on the north bridge heatsink and his fur was burning. not very pleasant when you have a small room that gets air circulated around fast. I had the windows open for 23Hrs to get the smell out.

Whats your story?

cheers,

hman outB|

In terms of hardware,

One of my close friends was complaining about his cd-player no longer working, and making a racket everytime he turned on his computer. being a nice guy, I swung by to see what was up. Turns out his little sister had crammed a chocolate chip cookie into the disc reader, no idea how, but yea.

In terms of software,

Being network guy for a lan party at my friends place, setting up people's computers and the like. One of the more distant friends in the group was complaining about his computer being slow (i5+780+ssd's up the ass) but his build shouldn't be chugging at all. Take a look around his computer, run an anti-virus, comes back with over 3k results of trojans. remove trojans, then take a look at his downloads folder to see how on earth he got so many bugs. Literally filled with hentai, nonstop furry, incest, and loli shit. We're talking about 100+gbs of pictures and video, like... Oh man... Pretended I didn't see anything, he wasn't paying attention when I was looking around the folders. I regret so much... afterwards told him to be careful with downloads, you never know what you're going to get along with what ever program you're downloading.

Worst: PC I bought from a car shop. The inside had metal shavings and dust all over, its a miracle it even worked. I only needed the CPU and cooler from it, although I wanted to completely remake it into a HTPC(Spoiler: It never happened).

Strangest: This computer wasn't gross or creepy in any way(probably the cleanest used PC I've ever bought), but it was just a strange combination of hardware, especially for the time. I bought a PIII rig in 2004, it was $50, and the only things I knew about it was the CPU, MB, and RAM amount(and that it was sold as "incomplete"). It showed up in a plain case(again, very clean), but I opened it up and found two 4 port USB 2.0 cards, a Intel gigabit card, a bitchin Soundblaster, and a PCI IDE card. It had no HDD's, but all of the cables were still in it. If I had to guess, it was probably a Pirate machine(Arrrggg), especially since the guy who sold it to me didn't like me asking any questions.

Never had any bad stories ... I had my shares of odd (a few friends that got virus from torrents and one ransomware, all easy fixes) but nothing weird, and I can't say I have a story that beat this;

Maybe not strange but a HD 5450 and a 750 ti in one because he didn't think a GPU could handle two monitors. Don't know why but that was his reasoning.

Opened a 13 year old HP Compaq NX9010 recently (The first ever computer I ever used when I was 6 :P)

I took a look inside and found the fans and surrounding areas were clogged with a substance which I presumed was nicotine combined with 12 year old dust, It actually hardened over the years because of the heat the Pentium 4 was producing and was a horrible dark brown color and the whole entire laptop reeked of this musty smell. I couldn't scrap the substance off or mask the smell so I scrapped the entire computer. Did salvage the massive heatsink from it though.

Pulled out an ancient DEC rainbow 100 computer from the attic.  The thinh reeked.  Also,  it had weird hard chewing gum like stuff that stuck to everything.  Have no idea what it was.  I just had to use a flat screwdriver to remove it from the case and keyboard.

I'm not a computer repair person, but I do tech support for a class at my school. Last year I was sitting in class and watched a football player open the CD drive and proceed to forcefully pull the disk tray out of the drive. Like, completely out. I was understandably alarmed and asked him why he did that, to which he responded, "I can fix it, I do it all the time in here. It'll go back in, just watch."

It didn't go back in. The drive tray is still broken despite all of my best efforts to fix it.

How about you, @Str_Mape?

Did you hear about what I found last year?

Anyways, I no longer have the picture but a decent number of people have seen it .

Inside, I found a mouse that looked like it had been dead for a while, had chewed through most of one the wires in a sata power chain and looks like over time one of the cables had finally separated.

With my rigs case being open all the time (dual PSU and full height GPU in half height slots), a hunstman crawled onto my gpu, where it was half inside the fan and half on the heatsink under the shroud.

So I started my rig and modified my fan curves to go to 100%, I didn't want to f*** around with no 8 legged monster
