When did PC's become a passion for you?

For me it was September last year (12 years old) when I really started researching PC parts and realized frequency wasn't the most important part of a CPU. It had at first been a hobby since 6. Thats when it sparked for me. I did tons of research and surpassed my mentor in knowledge (my best friend Brian) who introduced me to PC. I told him his CPU was Haswell and he didn't even know what I meant xD. When did it spark for you guys?

As for your question:

 

I joined because Battlefield 3's 64 Player servers were very interesting... 3 years later I'm still here doing more than just gaming with my computer. That was a while ago, i was 12 at the time i think.

I never joined the "pcmasterrace', that circlejerk is old and stale.

 

I always played on the computer, used to play Age of Empires and Stronghold: Crusader when I was young and never really stopped playing pc games.

 

Not to say that I didn't have consoles either, I played the shit out of pokemon on my gameboy and DS. Also put hundreds of hours into DBZ games on the PS2.

In all honesty when I was like.. 3 I began the journey of the computer.  Back when Windows 98 and ME were everything.

I first used a computer (an off-white Microsoft PC) when i think is was 6-ish. Actually built my first when i was about 15 when i just meant to upgrade the graphics card in an HP pre-built, but it didn't like it so I ended up building a PC around an ASUS R7 260X.

 

that said i do really think PCMasterRace (and the term "Console Peasant") should only ever be used with extreme sarcasm.

Got access to first PC (beige box running Windows 95) when I was ~5, Total Annihilation was the shit. Gamed on PC/PS2 till about 14 when I got a 360, couldn't afford a gaming PC till I got a job in a shop around 17. 

Did research on hardware to buy and the bug bit me, building high performance PCs since and work with them too.

 

I was introduced to LTT around the same time, I remember learning from Linus how different CPUs fitted in different sockets - mind blown.  :D
