Whatsapp?

Hello linustechtips!

Here in SA almost everyone uses whatsapp, because airtime is stupidly expensive and its so great to use.

Do you/someone you know use it?

If you dont know what it is it is an internet based messenging app with group functionality.

WhatsApp is more popular than texting (SMS) here.

Yup I use whatsapp, also kik, snapchat and facebook messenger 

 

nothing to do with pricing though, I have unlimited texts and phone calls, just people prefer to use instant messaging apps over texting

Still use that sometimes, because I dont have 3G or 4G, but most of the time I have WiFi anyways. And yo ucant have group messages with SMS I think (or at least you dont have groups like WhatsApp) so if you're at school and dont know what classroom you should be at you send a message in the class' WhatsApp group and you get an answer

Because not everyone uses it, some people use other apps like Kik etc, just down to their preference

Thats why you should always write up where you should be so you know where to go, and like nobody at my school uses it

yeah, that's what i meant, if 2 out 20 friends that i message have whatsapp i'm not switching to something else and keep in mind those 2 people i talked about also have whatsapp anyway, they will use whatsapp to contact those majority of their friends who use whatsapp, there's no point in having 4 apps to do the same thing when everyone already has whatsapp regardless of there preferences.

PS seriously, what can't whatsapp cant do at this point except video calls. people rather chat on it rather video calls for the most part anyway.

assuming that friend doesnt use whatsapp at all, even if he or she doesn't everyone switching to kik for just one friend that uses kik is just an inconvenience, my thoughts are either switch to wahtsapp if you wanna talk or i'll just use my mobile SMS service to chat, as that's what i've been doing all along for those who don't have anything on their phone.

yup, and they are not forcing to change mine, hence as i said "i'm not gonna use one different app for one or two people and rather SMS them" keep in mind this is real friends i'm talking about not random facebook/twitter online friends, that i can understand, they dont know me nor do i know them, i can understand people not using facebook or twitter, but not in case of wahtsapp where you do chat to your known friends with their real identity and ph no's 

that's what people do, there was a time when everyone's on msn, all these social things only lasts until everyone migrates and forcing you to migrate to keep up with them, someday everyone might migrate from wahtsapp to what ever platform they are using, then i'll do as well. that was the point i'm making here.

maybe it was different over there, but it was always free in India, and correct me if i'm wrong, hike, snapchat also need your personal number to activate.

Oh it was a paid app here, and a recurring cost,  hence the topic recently about it now being free!!!
