this conversation was never about giving phone numbers and such, it was as i said, no use of using 4 different apps that does the same function when mass majority is only using one of them, i rest my case.

All I am saying is, some of us wont force our friends to all use an App, im not going to refuse to talk to someone just because they use Kik not whatsapp

Even though 99% of US plans inc. unlimited texting, people still use stuff like whatapps and fb messenger. Which I find weird since you need wifi/data to use those apps and that costs money .

 

I haven't sent a single sms since 2013 (I checked). But even then, I only use FB messenger with people. I had Kakaotalk (Korean messaging app) while I was abroad but no one really uses it unless they talk to people in Korea. I find it stupid there isn't 1 major app and some people use x while others use y. All the people I need to talk to are FB friends so that works out. If it's someone new I just tell them to email me (I'm professional like that lol) or add me on FB (same email). 8/10 they don't want to text (EVEN THOUGH IT'S FREE!)

 

The only negative I see with standard texting is the whole group message issues. Can't group message people on different OS, sending pictures sometimes takes a while and still requires internet to see, etc etc. That is where online apps come in handy.

Everyone uses whatsapp, I haven't sent an SMS in years (except to my parents since they still have flip phones).
