It wasn't long ago, of course, that PCs were hounded by the usual premature proclamations of demise heaped on the platform since its first heyday ended sometime around 2001. As early as 2005, Cnet was arguing that the Xbox 360 and the PS3 would mark the end of the PC as a gaming platform; more recently, we've heard similar claims centered around the sudden rise of social games (which often count as PC games in their own weird way) or the advent of smartphones and tablets. It wasn't as though such proclamations packed much weight; even during its darkest hours, the PC witnessed the staggering rise of World of Warcraft's millions, while millions of other players also flocked to games like League of Legends, EVE Online, and Mojang's indie wunderkind Minecraft.

It's not hard to see why folks less invested in gaming news would think otherwise, as endless piles of doom and gloom piled (and continue to pile) in with reports on the PC itself. As recently as last Thursday, research from IDC Insights added another dose through its revelation that PC shipments were expected to drop by 9.7 percent worldwide this year, marking another grim milestone in a steady slide that the firm expects to last through at least 2015. And yet, while sales of actual PCs might be lagging, revenues from games sold for the platform have shot up at almost an equal rate.

 

We all know that the PC is rising popularity as a gaming platform, and we're all glad for that. Right now we're seeing the biggest influx of console gamers to PC gamers yet, and this is awesome. Thoughts on the PC platform (stupid question, I know)?

Here are some games that I do not play, but I also do not hate:

• Minecraft
• League of Legends
• Dota 2
• World of Warcraft

Here is another game that I do happen to enjoy and play:

• Starcraft 2

I list this games for a reason.  Of all the above games, the experience simply cannot be replicated on consoles.  Also, the origins of these games came from PC and/or have their only place as a PC game.

 

The same cannot be said in reverse, however.  It almost every instance, any game on the console can easily replicate the experience on a PC.  This includes some obvious console-favored genres including 1v1 Fighting Games and smaller arcade-style games.  But you will *NEVER* replicate the experience of Starcraft 2 on a console (as we define it today).

 

I am making the claim that PC is just purely better for gaming in ALL aspects.  Go ahead, pick a factor.  PC will always win, even in the lonely console argument of "I like relaxing on my couch", which can easily be done with a PC as well via HDMI cable or separately built gaming PC, of which can be now built at comparable prices to console hardware.

 

PC is where the newest, most innovative titles begin.  Let's not forget that even Grand Theft Auto had its roots in PC.  PC is superior.  I may not like to play League of Legends, and I am a SC2 player, but I certainly welcome the game simply because it gets more people buying PCs.  The best gameplay experiences are on PC.

 

Games on PC can be easily modded.  This is a very straightforward point.

 

A PC game you buy today, but may not have a powerful PC to run it, you can easily buy a better PC later and get a better experience.  You cannot take Halo 1 for Xbox Original and run it on Xbox One with better settings and the newest technology including Eyefinity, 3D, or Oculus Rift.  Someone with a GTX 560 Ti may not be able to run Metro 2033 at Ultra settings well.  However, when they later purchase a GTX 780, they still own the purchase of the game in their Steam library.  We don't have to hang onto an old Xbox 360 DVD of a game which will unfortunately only ever run on a 360.  A PC title will (generally) run on any PC for many, many years.  Worst case scenario is an older game does not support newer versions of Windows, but PC's can fortunately be virtualized, if necessary.

 

Consoles are inferior--people everyday are recognizing this, including friends who invite other friends to take interest in e-Sports games like League of Legends.  Eyes are slowly being peeled away from what I consider the dead-weight of console hardware, and those eyes are now being directed at the freedom and promised land of PCs.

there was supposed to be a pornhub app for 360 but it never got out of beta(which i missed dammit), and even the Wii had a web bowser so you could look up porn on that. Hell even my 3ds has one and belive me it works
