Upgrading an FX-8120 system

I am thinking about upgrading my current system with a current gen graphics card (probably an r9), more ram, and a SSD boot drive. My concern is that my FX-8120 and a asrock 990 might bottleneck a current gen gpu

Intel i7 7700k, EVGA 1080 FTW,  EVGA Supernova 850 g3, Corsair Vengeance, NZXT Kraken x62, Corsair Crystal 570x, Yamaha RX-V377. Klipsch Synergy2 5 channel sound system. Klipsch Synergy SubWoofer 15" 800watts

With a 990FX platform I'd suggest a R9-380, 390, or 390X.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Really can't give any solid advice without the exact specs.

That CPU should be paired with a mid-range graphics card.

What GPU, and PSU do you have right now and what resolution are you rendering your games at?

Also are you equipped to overclock your CPU? what frequencies do you run at?

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 2 VR

I am using a CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 650W ATX12V/EPS12V PSU (which can be upgraded with everything else easily. I am currently using a evga 560gtx. I will not be over clocking. The system is part of a home theater system, and I will be rendering at 1080p for at least another two years when genuine 4K projectors cost less than 5 figures.

I used to do constant upgrades, but kind of fell out of the habit. I wouldn't buy a mid level just because it pairs better, since I will eventually upgrade everything. It's just a question of if its worth getting a new gpu for now, or if the performance upgrade would be so fractional that I should be thinking of a completely fresh build.

yes it would be worth it and if you have plans on buying a new motherboard and intel CPU down the road then i would suggest a single powerful card for 1080p which would be for example a GTX 970 or an R9 390 which retail for a reasonable price of around 350$, both of these perform very similar in games so you could pick whichever you like best....both are a huge jump from the GTX 560 as you can see here:

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-970-vs-Nvidia-GTX-560/2577vs3155

Your FX CPU will not be quite fast enough for this GPU but you should get the most out of it in most games...and it should perform relatively well at 1080p

Also, Nvidia DX11 drivers are easier on the CPU, so with that FX chip i think it would perform better with the GTX 970...your PSU is fine as well.
