Suggesting of cpu's for gaming

Go to solution Solved by Benji_w,

yes but at that price, go for an i5. the whole point of going for amd is to save cost. if not, then just get the i5 :) sure its boring and cant overclock, but it just works better.

cheapest 4460 http://pcpartpicker.com/p/H2NFQ7

better 8320e http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MDFrdC

This, the i5 is a better CPU like we keep saying and a decent motherboard for the i5 will have more features.

I need some suggestions on cpu's for gaming. I am willing to spend 100-120 At the most. I also want a quad core processor at the least. AMD is the better choice for budget building so i am looking for a AMD processor. Any suggestions would help.

Thanks!

Why do you want a quad core?

What are you doing on your computer? What Games are you playing?

Hell, in gaming, a cheap i3 4170 will do better than the FX-6300.

Also recommend going skylake for i3 gaming as ddr4 makes a huge difference in low core gaming.

didnt u just ask for build help in a different topic lol..

i3 4160,6300 or 8320e. only those fit ur budget. between those ,clearly the 8230e is the fastest.

6300 is overall same as the 4160 in gaming.

8320e is closer to the i5.

In single core performance, yes.

Correct, in it which is more important in most games.

OP is planning to play CS:GO so Intel really seems to be the best choice.

In single core performance, yes.

Why do people always say this? are back in 1980? Processors have more than 1 core today and it helps.

Granted some programs can only use 2 cores + ht but are usually light weight anyhow and you can tweak it in bios.

At the very least an i3? Even second hand will do if it works.

You don't want to be stuck with a dead end socket when you don't have good single core performance.

The 8320 should do good in gaming and due to it having 8 cores it will easily outrun the dual core i3

Please read the context behind what I said, FX chips are weak for single core performance, that's a fact.

Most games require four threads and the i3 provides it. If you're not willing to pay that much for a i5, get an i3 instead.

Make sure you get a decent motherboard for the chip and overclock it, Try combine the chip with 1866mhz ram with CL9 or lower (it will help with performance)

So, i should go with the i5 if i am wanting to play certain games on low/medium settings with 30-60fps? Or will the 8320e processor do the job?

An i3 will create a significant difference between the two:

OP is more suited to get an i3 for other games anyway since most games like individual core performance.

It lacks single core performance but for the most part it does very well, I wish I would of replaced it with an 8370E because they can overclock to 5.2ghz and produce less heat.
