Razer Blade Stealth, an Ultrabook announced at CES 2016

if I was buying a razer blade (or any gaming laptop) I would still want an on board GPU for on the road

I know we haven't seen this thing perform yet, but I don't think external GPU's are a good idea unless the laptop has a desktop CPU in it. Seems like a super niche product for the hardcore Razer fans.

If youre buying it for the ultrabook factor, its really a good buy.

Idk if that is so about the gaming spectrum of it, but as a regular laptop is seems awesome (and Im not just saying that because I own a Blade :P).

Yeah the laptop buy itself is neat. I just mean the external GPU solution. Not worth it imo.

My friend had it and it doesn't throttle

Nope, I want the GS40 phantom tbh

But it has thunderbolt 3 which is way more worth

Pair it with the egpu dock then more performance

The price is good also

I dont care about external GPUs, the gs40 is 14" smaller, lighter and has a 970m

and I believe the new model coming out has eGPU support too

The worry I have re the Core is its cooling -- all the videos suggest it has no case fan, leaving it up to ambient cooling.  If the card isn't rear-exhaust reference, I'd be concerned it would just spin up and get hotter and hotter till it throttles from lack of dissipation.

I agree re that Asus that drove linus crazy -- if it really is quad core, 32GB of RAM, 2xTB3.0, it's a show stopper to wait for... the question is the wait.

Does anybody think that "The Core" is nearly the same thing than the Dan A4 SFX Case, but without a motherboard???

the stealth is nice but we really need some semi-low power quad core CPU's for ultrabook-type laptops.

I would have liked to have seen the screen options as 1080p and 1440p rather than 1440p and 4k only.  But I suppose they gotta push their new Razer Core somehow :\

Why even 4k on that size display?  The core can't backpower the display (that I am aware of) -- the only thing I can figure is you need 100% RGB  for your job/hobby function.

The Core can be used only if you have external monitor. You cannot use Core using the notebook display.

I am curious if the core will work on other notebooks. :) Once it is confirmed it does or doesn't I will be happy. If it does work with other notebooks one could get a desktop cpu in a laptop and use this thing for a desktop replace without needing a high end gaming laptop that cost a ton.

It will (supposedly) be able to work with other laptops. It's up to the manufacturer of said laptop to implement it tho.

yeah - so what's the use of a 4k option on a screen this size?  The only reason I'd consider it is to also pick up the default installed 512GB drive.  Going to have to wait I think for the manual to be released for download to see what (ram or drive) is truly up-gradable.

ha ha. They put 4k display on a 5.5 inch size. I'm not surprised here :) 1080p is more than enough for a 5.5 inch display imho.
