What is a healthy overclock for a R9 280x?

Hello all, I have a PowerColor TurboDuo Radeon R9 280x OC edition that has a core clock of 1030MHz out of the box and a memory clock of 1500MHz out of the box. I am most likely going to be using MSI Afterburner or the Radeon settings to overclock the card. My question is how far can I push this card and keep it stable? My case has good air flow and the card normally under a stress test stays relatively cool.

Update: With overclock my max core clock is 1210MHz and my memory clock is at 1550MHz, I can go higher with memory clock but for some reason I have to lower my core clock other wise it becomes unstable in games. So core clock on over clock is a 180MHz boost. Which makes a noticeable difference when playing a game.

Forgot to mention, I would like to know a core clock to try and a memory clock that goes along with it.

whatever won't cause the card to have artifacts after you stress test it and maintains temps under 90C. This is the rule for practically any GPU.

Ah okay. I was just hoping someone with this card has overclocked and just told me their settings that worked. I have a 750W PSU so I don't think that is a problem.

Every card is different. It is impossible to have overclock settings that work for all cards unless they are relatively low. Even then you could have a crappy card and not get any oc at all

Okay I have overclocked the core clock to 1150 MHz and it is stay below 70C under stress. Is that good? Idles at 47C.

Sounds good to me. Just make sure it's stable by playing some games at that level.

Aim for 1500 mem clock

I wrote in this in the topic: "core clock of 1030MHz out of the box and a memory clock of 1500MHz out of the box."

So I have been able to up the memory clock to 1550MHz, I probably could go higher, just got to test. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I've had really bad luck trying to overclock the memory at all on AND cards. Might work in benchmarks but causes all kinds of weird issues in game. I stick to core clock.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Okay thanks. (I managed to get to 1210, 1211 crashed in games) I am keeping the memory clock at 1550MHz though.

Really Good result on the core.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
