How long does it take to get used to a mechanical keyboard?

I bought a k95 RGB yesterday and it feels strange. Ive only ever used membrane keyboards or laptop keyboards for like the past 6 or so years. How long does it take to get used to a mech keyboard?

Edit : I make a lot of mistakes on my new keyboard compared to my laptop one :/

edit : keys are browns

Depends how much you use it :P If you spend most of your day typing you can get used to it real fast.

It's just like any other keyboard, it took me about 12 hours of use to get comfortable with the new switches but a few days to get used to the change in spacing of the keys.

Less than one work day for me. However, I might be a bad example, as I type anywhere from 20k to 100k characters w/spaces every day.

It would take some time getting used to if you have light mechanical switches, but yeah that's to be expected when going from membrane/chiclet keys.

A few weeks at least.  You also got the K95 which use MX Cherry Red switches, which are very light and you can mistype very easily with it.

I went from a crappy membrane keyboard, to a Corsair K70. I have had it for over 2 months and have gotten used to it. I'm sure you will soon.

For the majority of my life I've used laptop keyboard, so the keys are close together and don't have the gaps between keys. So I got my PC on christmas and I'm still getting used to the layout and everything else.

I got a new mech keyboard for christmas and I got used to that fairly quickly but not as quickly as I would have thought. Anyway, between now and christmas I got used to it which means the membrane keyboards I use at school (started new term today) feel like crap. Honestly once you have been using mech keyboard for even 10 days you will never want to go back to membrane.

It took me 2-3 days to get used to my keyboard, the keys felt "softer/looser" after I got used to them and it was great after that point (lighter)

Typed slower for the first day, gradually picking up speed without making many mistakes and within days, feels normal.

But I'm on computers everyday for extended periods to make a living.

For someone who uses a PC less, longer obviously.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
