To upgrade my cpu or not?

Hello i need help.

I currently have a fx 4300 processor with an sapphire r9 380 nitro 4gb. My friend and the seller said my processor is good enough for gaming. I dont really do much other than play games. I get about 30-40fps on crysis 3, and about 30-40 fps on witcher 3 on ultra. I was thinking about upgrading the processor to an i5-6600k or i5-4690k, the 6600k in my country costs 11,755 php (abt 230 us$) while the 4690k costs 10,750 (abt 210 us$). I told my friend i wanted to upgrade to get better fps in games like witcher 3 and dying light and crysis and watchdogs. He said it wouldnt make a difference probably 3-5 fps at most and that it would be kind of a waste of money. Is he right? Or will it make a difference? And if yes, which processor should i take? And what motherboard would be good with it?

P.s. i dont plan on overclockng anytime soon or ever

There would be a big difference in minimums not averages mostly, so the game smooths out. I would recommend getting a i5 4460 and a H81/H97/B85 board as it's cheaper (doesn't require getting DDR4 as well) plus offers better value in your case.

It would make a pretty huge difference. Your GPU is bottlenecked at the moment.

If you dont want to overclock is a i5 6600 is perfect for your needs?

The i5 6500 has a bit more value per fps since it's cheaper by 50 dollars and won't bottleneck a R9 380. A i5 4460 is could be for his case since he won't need go get new RAM.

It will make a night and day difference. You should upgrade if you have the money to the newer skylake without hesitation.

IF you dont wanna overclock a H170 mobo + i5 6600 will save you some money

dont get k if you arent overclocking. check and record gpu and cpu usage while playing. if your cpu is a bottleneck, you will notice that gpu usage isnt near 100%(generally saying maybe 75-100% while gaming). my gpu usage was 50% when i had bad cpu, thats how you know if you have a bottleneck

Wouldn't it be better to upgrade only the cpu instead of everything? I'm thinking about getting a FX-8350 or better.

Nah, Intel is better for gaming overall.

Yes that's right but you'd need to spend about 100$ extra for getting a new motherboard. That's why I thought about getting ab better CPU only ^^

I think it'll be worth the wait for saving up some more and getting Intel :)

I personally run on an i5 4690K @4.5GHz and an ASUS Z97-P.

Perfectly fine for gaming :)
