yes windows 7 still a good os, and windows 10 is an option, if you can get windows 7 you can make a free upgrade to windows 10 (but i don't like it). and btw windows 8.1 is really really really really (i can write it many times) great. if you didn't like like the windows metro you can install a start menu using some of those free softwares, iobti start menu is a good one

I prefer Win 7 over 10.

There's nothing 10 can do that 7 can't right now. No DX12 games have been released thus far, so no difference in game compatibility.

If you're that worried you can upgrade to Windows 10 assuming you have a legit Windows 7 key. This offer continues until July 28th 2016.

Feel free to get Win 7!

Windows 7 is still a pretty good OS given its age.

if you're scared about Microsoft gathering your information then yes it is worth it.

But I personally prefer Windows 10 over Windows 7 now :D but one thing that annoys me is my Origin icon in the pinned start menu is not a blue tile :(

But you get a free upgrade to Windows 10 so yeah, it's worth it.

If for some reason it's truly between 7 and 8.1, then Windows 7 for sure. But Windows 10 is available to all valid 7/8.1 users for free until July 29, 2016, so that's what I'd recommend.

(As long as all of your system components have Windows 10-compatible drivers available, that is.)

Windows 7 used to be my go to but then I tried 8.1 and tbh, I find 8.1 to be better.

There's nothing 10 can do that 7 can't right now.

Native .iso mounting, SecureBoot, Artificial desktops via Taskview, just to name a few things that 10 can do that 7 can't.

Also, subjectively better task manager. And faster boot times, less OS footprint.
