2666 makes sense if you want the best from your CPU on Skylake.

What platform? LGA1151 doesn't even ave quad channel AFAIK.

If you're on LGA2011-3 it makes sense to buy quad channel.

LGA1551. Oh i see. so i should get dual channel ones?

8gb are enough, get 12 or 16 if you plan on running vms while you play games. quad channel is better in theory, however you won't really notice any difference and you might want to leave more slots free for future upgrades. Frequency also doesn't really matter in most programs including games, so get the cheapest.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Thank you for your explanations.

I was wondering what are the difference between those normal kingston ddr4 ram and their hyperx fury rams?

Knowing kingston probably just the heatspreader.

Most of them are based on the same hynix H5AN4G8NMFR-TFC modules.

Any big differences between 2400mhz and 2666mhz? cause i can only get 2400mhz locally and would need to order from amazon if i want 2666mhz ram

There is a difference in gaming but that's compared to 2133, go 2400 is it's easier.

For gamers not much.. given that kingstons 2400mhz kits are based on the same as their 2666mhz stuff you can probably just overclock it to 2666 if you wanted

16-16-16-39 @ 1.2V 2400 XMP

15-17-17-35 @ 1.2V 2666 OC

With such a minimal difference in the clock. You'll easily get the 2400mhz RAM to run at 2666mhz with a BIOS overclock (and maybe overvolt).

I personally bought 1600 Mhz RAM running at 2133 Mhz. Not a single problem  :)

one last thing. 2x4gb sticks or one single 8gb stick? might get 2x8gb sticks.

Ideally you want two identical modules installed in the proper slots to enable dual-channel mode. Getting one module with the intent to buy another is a valid strategy, though, as long as you'll actually follow through with it.

There is no performance gain between 2400 and 2666 when gaming. Anything above 2133 is good.

This misinformation needs to die, right here, right now.

It has been proven that there is a performance increase in the form of fps when gaming with RAM at a higher frequency.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Only with APUs.

I have access to a multiple range of frequencies 2133 - 3200Mhz, and I have personally tested multiple frequencies on the same system with a few different AAA titles. Zero FPS were  gained after 2666Mhz. This has to also do with timings which are usually higher with higher frequencies. Please tell me you were trolling.

ram isnt dual or quad channel, the way you set it up is. Some 1151 support 2x dual channel

Yep, but If your board supports quad channel operation, and you want to take advantage of it, you will need to buy your RAM in the form of four suitable sticks.  I think that is what people are trying to communicate.
