LMG- any plans for a non-k Skylake Overclocking Guide?

Greetings,

There's been a lot of talk about the ability to overclock all of Intel's new Skylake CPUs - including non-k models - with base-clock overclocking on all compatible motherboards after a BIOS update (notably, Z170 chipset motherboards from major manufacturers or any LGA 1151 motherboard from Super Micro.

I was wondering if you guys at LMG (@LinusTech and @Slick in particular) intended to cover this in a future video. I could be wrong, but it's a development that could mean a lot for the PC community that LMG addresses in most of their videos- a return to former Intel CPU generations where a little tweaking could mean far greater performance at lower prices.

Regards,
Aereldor.

They've probably already started either researching or recording for it.

If not, they should get right on it.

A lot of views to be made guys ;)

They've talked about it on a Wan Show and I can imagine a video coming soon, hopefully. It could be possible that Intel might want to cover it up to boost sales of their "K" series Skylake chips.

they might give windows some micro code, so the non k series cpus wont boot into win 10 with a overclock. Like they did with the g3258 when win 10 first launched(but that was more they messed up some code)

I doubt they'd even accept an offer from Intel not to cover that. Despite having endorsed content, Linus, Luke, and a good chunk of the LMG crew are enthusiasts who probably won't pass up such an opportunity. I agree with @CarterDavison - they're probably already on it.

Well, they're a business.

Linus has to pay all of the crew members so if Intel asks them not to do something, I doubt Linus would want to go to court over a single video.

You raise a good point. Still, even though this is probably terrible for business, could enabling base-clock overclocking and letting motherboard manufacturers release BIOS files supporting this really have been an oversight? It doesn't sound like an unexpected side-effect that Intel had no idea about, but it would make sense if they're against this potential 'weakness' in their market scheme being exposed and publicized- just not as much.
