Which CPU to use for gaming

okay so here is what I find very interesting; I wanna build myself a $1000 pc and I am stuck on making decision whether I should choose Intel core i5 6500 cpu (4 cores) or AMD fx-8320 (8 cores). I am interested to here everyone opinion and also I hear from people that AMD are known to produce more heat than intel. If anyone have any other opinion that I should not choose the two cpu that I have mention then I would to hear as well. Thank you guys

 

 

Note: I am not gonna overclock any of my cpu or gpu. Also I will only gaming in 1080p.

More cores doesn't mean better. For example, games prefer fewer, faster cores which is why the Intel CPU will perform much better in games.

A 4460 is only 20% slower than an 8350 in a rendering test (which loves more cores). That, plus the heat and the lousy single thread performance makes AMD's CPU market (Except for ultra budget builds and Zen maybe) dead.

I would go with the 6500, and set the BCLK a bit higher :-)

If you have to choose between the i5-6500 and the 8320, usually grab the 6500. Especially if you are leaving the CPU at stock.

Heck, even AMD is fairly lacking when it comes to multi core performance.

AMD is mostly for budget PC, the more money you have, the more chance of a Intel processor as a choice.

Although AMD isn`t bad at all, it`s just not Intel

The Intel CPU's have a much high performance per core, so an AMD FX-8350 is equivalent in performance to a low end i5 when it comes to gaming / general use. So if you're looking for something that performs well, is on a good platform, and has a good upgrade path go with any modern i5, from either the 4000 series or 6000 series.

The best chips from AMD now is 860K & FX-6300 but the FX-8300 series is great for work machines on a budget but in some games its no better than 860K and FX-6300 but in some it is actually better it depends on how well they made the game etc...

 

The best chips on the Intel side is clearly the i5-4460 & the i3-6100!

 

Also, the 8350 only has 4 'real' cores.
