Wait.......J.J Abrams isnt directing Star Wars Episode 8?

Profoundsoup

Apparently it going to be directed by Rain Johnson...I dont know if this is a good thing or bad thing because The Force Awaken was so good...

(Rain Johnson was the directer of Looper, Brink, and two Breaking Bad episodes)

Apparently Colin Trevorrow will direct episode 9.............. (Jurassic World directer)

He better be.

A series with a different director every movie is going to be fucking stupid.

so I guess people forgot that they changed directors from the fifth and sixth movie.

I mean JJ Abrams did such a good job, why change anything around? Im not asking in a bad way im legitimately asking whats the point of changing directors when it was done so well?

I have faith in Rian Johnson. According to Abrams, when he read the script for Episode VIII, he wanted to direct that movie as well because he loved it.

Remember, this man is responsible for directing the movie Looper, and one of Breaking Bad's best episodes.

But Colin Trevorrow... It's not too late to change directors...right?

I would think Star Wars would be taking up his time and this would be his MAIN thing since he did so well with this movie. I guess I dont really know the movie industry well enough to understand this.

I'm not sure, there's probably a reason

Although there's going to be a different director, I'm very sure JJ would probably have a large influence on what happens in the movie and would probably get a producing role like George did in Empire Strikes Back.

I see nothing wrong with it. Abrams' directing credits is a short list and not even that impressive. Nothing bad, but not exceptional by any means.

1. Abrams is an executive producer for ep. 8 and possibly ep. 9 too.

2. ALL THREE directors were involved in the creation process. All the scripts were created in a collaborative process.

3. Jurassic world was well directed. Most people have a problem with the story, which means they have a problem with the script and plot. All three episodes will have at least one of the same writers.

4. Abrams has other things to do in his career. I'm sure he wants to return to star trek at some point as well. Directing all the star wars would mean giving up any new opportunities for the next 6+ years.

5. ALL THREE original trilogy had different directors.

6. Harry potter movies had different directors too and they are still good.

Why are people worried? Abrams will have some say in the next movie. Trust me, they won't fuck it up. And frankly Rian Johnson should do a fucking kickass job.

he already read the script and said he loved it, so I think it'll be great. Just hope they do less fan service in terms of the entire plotline :/
