The unofficial PC GOTY Thread

Master Disaster

So its half way through December now (give or take a few days) and all the major releases of the year are out, its about time we asked the question on every bodies lips...

What is your favourite game of 2015?

Rules:

Post as many games as you like from any genre you like

It must be a PC game (can be multi platform)

It must have been released in 2015

Can be AAA or Indie

Can be Multiplayer or Singleplayer

At the bottom of your post you must then post a winner.

If enough people take part I will create a table and we can see if we can get a 2015 LMG GOTY.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've enjoyed many games this year

Dying Light

GTA V

Project Cars

The Witcher 3

MGS V

Mad Max

Fallout 4

Assassins Creed Syndicate

Just cause 3 (gonna discount this one though as its really buggy)

My winner for the GOTY would have to be

Grand Theft Auto V.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Post away everybody

My 2015 GOTY Includes

GTA V

Fallout 4

Starcraft 2 Legacy of the void

Planetary Annihilation Titans

Hurtworld

Mad Max

Fallout 4 would be my GOTY but over the last two weeks all my free time has been consumed by the newly released Hurtworld, which I have to award my 2015 GOTY.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (over 200 hours played)
The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt (over 100 hours played)
Fallout 4 (over 100 hours played)

And it's easily The Witcher 3.  I'd have way more time in that game, but I'm waiting for the last big expansions to launch before I go through an epic NG+ run.

Honorable mention goes to Project M, since it's technically a mod for a Wii game, but can be and often is played on PC.

Despite my issues with the game, I'm giving it to MGS V. The way that game plays is nothing short of masterful, and I can still pop in and do some side ops or replay some missions and have a blast. I hoped there'd be more modding for it, but it looks like that scene has died down.

Pillars of Eternity.

Witcher 3.

Fallout 4.

Mad Max.

Hmmm. I'd have to say Witcher 3 is the winner, but Pillars is a close tie for me.

Fallout 4 is too... I don't know, I enjoy it but there's something off about it as a whole. The Witcher 3 is just so complete and downright engaging, I find I disappear into it. If it wasn't for the exploration and setting I don't think I would enjoy Fallout 4 all that much honestly.

So The Witcher 3 is my game of the year, and Pillars of Eternity is my runner up.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

Still feel like GTA V should be disqualified since it's technically a 2014 game with a delayed launch window (but even then it would only make it towards the end of my top 10)

Winner: Fallout 4

Runner up/Winner for Indie Title: Rocket League

I honestly didn't like the Witcher 3. Visually beautiful game but ehh to the rest. But then again I also didn't like 1 or 2 so maybe its not my cup of tea.

"Solus" (2015) - CPU: i7-4790k | GPU: MSI GTX 970 | Mobo: Asus Z97-A | Ram: 16GB (2x8) G.Skill Ripjaws X Series | PSU: EVGA G2 750W 80+ Gold | CaseFractal Design Define R4

Next Build: "Tyrion" (TBA)

i have enjoyed The Age of Decadence and GTA V. I don't think I've played any other games released this year besides maybe rocket league and rainbow six seige.

I can't say which is better, since I haven't really played The Age of Decadence much (only 1 hour), but it seems promising.

atm tho GTA V is my game of the year

hello!

is it me you're looking for?

Laptop:

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

There weren't really any good games this year.  Terraria 1.3 is probably the best, because they actually kept their promises and delivered.
