How many times a day do you hear people say that they are going to "Search the Internet"? Well I got news for you!! First you must agree this one thing about gramer...You cannot verb a verb, for instance: One cannot run a playing. It just isn't possible, and I am sure we can all agree on that.

The word Internet actually is just short for Internetworking. So when you or a friend says that they are going to search the "Internet" they are actually saying they are "Searching the Internetworking". Searching and Internetworking are both verbs, therefor they are verbing a verb which is grammatically incorrect. Busted!

Plus, when you search for a website on Google, you are only searching a small fraction of the webpages that actually exist! And to add on evean more, Just a fraction of the Internetworking systems is actually made up of websites.

Next time you think about searching the Internet....Think again!

Pop Culture is just a set of people with their own reality. We all can have our own, its our choice what we live it. And I have decided that as a "Nerd" I cannot understand pop culture, so I have chosen to make fun of it...

"Internetworking" and "the internet" are actually different. It's 2015, words get updated.

Definitions anywhere, "the internet" is a noun used for... the internet.

"Internetworking" is the verb of networking.

In fact, "I'm going to search the internet" is wrong because they're not searching the internet, they're searching the world wide web.

You can't possibly search the internet because most of the internet is not publicly accessible via searching.

Nice try, failtroll ;D

"internet" has kinda become the commonly used term for that what comes out the wall, and most people dont have an idea what's behind it, so they put it under one term.

language changed based on what people use words for, "internet" doesnt fall back to "internetworking", just like "faggot" didnt start out as a derogatory term.

Hmm, according to Meriam Webster and the Oxford Dictionary ´internet´ is an independent word and it is a noun.

So, it doesn't matter where the word came from, since it is now its own word with its own meaning.

Pop Culture is just a set of people with their own reality. We all can have our own, its our choice what we live it. And I have decided that as a "Nerd" I cannot understand pop culture, so I have chosen to make fun of it...

I don't think you know how english works.....

"internet" is a word, not an abbreviation

it used to mean internetwork, sure, but it doesn't anymore

in english if a word or abbreviation is used enough to reffer to one thing, the meaning changes

btw saying "searching the internet" is still correct because "internetwork" is a noun, not a verb

that's just like saying "searching the closet" or "searching the box"

it does NOT mean "searching the internetworking" or "searching the playing"

"internetworking" is not the same as "internetwork"

and internet is an abbreviation of the latter

TL;DR: you're wrong

Internet is now a noun, it might not have been in the past but language is subject to change. If you don't believeven me compare and old dictionary and a new one, words are added and changed all the time. For example 10 years ago "selfie" was not in the dictionary and voila now it is. Secondly you spelled grammar "gramer" really bro? The one word you shouldn't misspell ;)
