Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

The gift I want is a tablet for my mom. She has been driving a charter bus for the last 13 years. For the last 3 years I've been telling her I want to get her a tablet so she has an easy way to access the internet in her hotel rooms. I realize this is a long shot but I had to try. Thanks.

My mom has had some pretty bad luck on the road, car getting hit while parked a couple times, got into an accident where it wasn't clear who was at fault. So I was thinking she could use a dashboard cam for her car, god forbid anything ever happens again she can have some peace of mind at least.

Thanks for doing this, awesome idea!

A receiver my mother because why have HD video but use the built in speakers?  She still has older pretty fantastic speakers sitting around but the old 1990 model Pioneer we used to listen to music and movies with is pretty much history now.

ZUS Smart USB Car Charger & Car Locator

This is for my mom since it touches on two things my mom LOVES, her phone and her car. She can rarely get her tank to last her more than 5 days and wherever she is, her phone is right there with her. This means she constantly needs to charge her phone, and she is constantly out shopping (or just looking at things for 2 hours then putting all back). This will help her not get lost in the parking lot and will also prevent her from her phone dying before she can post on Facebook what she's doing at the moment. She can just open up the app to the car charger and save us 15 minutes of going on a journey trying to find the fountain of youth (taking a long time to find the car). Thanks for reading :), and if my other post did go through, sorry for entering twice, if it didn't, I just typed an essay for my mom to have something under the Christmas tree this year. :)

I would probably want to get this for my hole family, were all always using our electronics and as a family of 12 we need a lot of storage lol, so this would help out a lot.

I would really love to get a system put together for my nephew (I call him my nephew. He's my best friend's son.) I have been going over stuff with his dad and If we could start out with a nice bare bones system, I could definitely make a pretty bad ass system for him. Something like this MSI NIGHTBLADE would be amazing. It doesn't have to be right up at the 300 dollar mark though. I would really just like it to be up-gradable and not something proprietary and super-custom. Something that will fit an i5 and my older 760 in it. I KNOW this would make his day and would help TREMENDOUSLY with his education (as well as kick-ass gaming!)

What I would probably give is a google chrome cast. Yes I know its under 300 so

1.  Google Chromecast

2.  Probably M40x from audiotechnica  to experience good sound because there are so many people with just bad headphones.

I would love to get my mom a Jawbone UP4... She is a personal trainer, stand up paddleboard instructor, and I have recently gotten her to join my crossfit gym. She's always wanted a heart rate monitor or "workout watch" as she calls them so she can give it to her clients while she's coaching them and she can keep tabs on their heart rate. This would be the perfect gift!

Hey guys,
I would love to get my girlfriend a new chromebook for christmas :)

She is technologically inept and keeps borrowing my laptop, but inevitably coming back with a problem
And with the help of remote desktop I can finally help debug her problems without her trying to show me what is wrong with skype open on her crappy lumia phone.. aha
Plus virtually no viruses, which she would be prone to downloading

This c720 is quite highly reviewed so I imagine it would be great -

Thanks guys,
I cant imagine her face if I was to give her this! :D

On Hub Google Router will be nice for my Dad. I always have to do changes on the D-Link router I have set up there now so this will be much easier to manage.

I really want to get my Dad a Nas Machine, because he's always moaning that there's never anything on TV. I have all the films on my computer but I'm always rendering so it's not practical to stream from my computer to the TV all the time, it'd be nice just to have all my films on a NAS Device and let my dad just pick and choose what films he wants to watch.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 would make a great gift for someone who's not comfortable with switching to a modern Smartphone like my Mom.

It's priced modestly at $170 USD but you get pretty much flagship specs. It has a MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 Octocore Processor clocked at 2.2 Gighz, PowerVR G6200 GPU, 3 GB Ram, 32 GB Internal Storage, 5.5 inch 1080p IPS Display, a Fingerprint Scanner, an IR Blaster, and a decent 13 megapixel camera. It's also got a premium feel with it's all metal body and has a 4000 mAh battery that can give the kind of battery life that people with non-smartphones have gotten used to.

But the main reason I'm suggesting this phone as a gift for someone who's not used to Smartphones is that it's MIUI 7 OS has a Lite Mode which is super simple to use, particularly for an older person who doesn't have good eyesight.

To get an idea of what Lite Mode is like so you can judge for yourself, there's a youtube video which explain it here :

Hey LTT,

I wanna get this, not only for my Dad, my Mom, but the whole family.

Being the nerd in the family, I've wrestled back and fourth with our ancient family PC while I was growing up. The PC and myself have a relationship, filled of timely re-formats and cleaning. This dinosaur is 10+ years old and is running a Athlon X2 Dual Core 4200+, 1GB to 2x1GB DDR2 RAM and a 150GB 5400 rpm HD . Just earlier this year, I had to talk my dad into upgrading the ram with an extra 2GB of DDR2.

This NUC PC will make the family's PC usage much smother and quieter, with not having to wait for our dinosaur of a PC to load. Not to mention all the reformatting and cleaning I will be spared.

Hi! I'd like to get a pair of nice headphones for my brother. He uses the public transport on a daily basis to/from work/school! The random headphones he gets are very bad, so I think it's time for him to upgrade! The long commute won't be as hard with a pair of these guys! :)

My mother has never really been too big into tech. She got an iPad for christmas a few years ago and she's been using these god awful pc speakers to play music from for as long as she's had it. Sadly, I'm a college student and can't really afford to go out and buy her a new setup. She's been wanting to get into this fancy "new" thing she keeps hearing about (bluetooth), and has absolutely no idea what to buy. She ended up getting a small AA battery powered speaker with a 3.5mm jack to plug into her ipad that sounds almost worse than her current speakers. I feel so bad for her. I'm a music major and hearing her blast music on partially blown 10 year old PC speakers is killing me. She's also the type of person who loves to play music as loudly as possible so I'm thinking she needs something that packs quite a bit of a punch.

The other thing is that she really enjoys sitting outside with her friends. For this she brings a really old radio outside and has a crazy long extension cord running all the way into our kitchen. Having a bluetooth speaker would make it so she could easily just bring the thing outside and let it play. Please consider saving my ears and heping me out on this one. She's gone through lot this past year with a few losses in the family, and I really wanna do something really nice for her. She's always been there for me when I need it, and music is the one thing that we both share a deep love for. Thank you so much for reading this.

Here's the link to the product that I picked out: http://www.amazon.com/Bose-SoundLink-Bluetooth-Speaker-III/dp/B00HWSXVDG/ref=sr_1_5?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1449990619&sr=1-5&keywords=bluetooth+speakers&refinements=p_89%3ABose

I chose the Bose Soundlink III because I read a lot of great reviews on it and it'd be a device that I could teach her how to use in a matter of minutes, and she'd be able to get a lot of use out of it.

Edit: The price of the product went up to over $300 so I went back and chose the same speaker without the attachment.
