Any free operating systems from windows 7 up to 10 that are beta or where i can just download and put on my usb drive.

You can get the OS free from MSDN or getintopc, but you will need a key to use that OS which costs money. There are no "free" ways of owning a legal copy of windows. We also cant talk about piracy here :P so I wont get into that.

Windows insider program

hello!

is it me you're looking for?

ᴾC SᴾeCS ᴰoWᴺ ᴮEᴸoW

Spoiler

Desktop: X99-PC

CPU: i7 5820k

Mobo: X99 Deluxe

Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 3

RAM: 32GB DDR4
GPU: GTX 1080

Storage: 1TB 850 Evo, 1TB HDD, bunch of external hard drives
PSU: EVGA G2 750w

Peripherals: Logitech G502, Ducky One 711

Audio: Xonar U7, O2 amplifier (RIP), HD6XX

Monitors: 4k 24" Dell monitor, 1080p 24" Asus monitor

Laptop:

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

If you have no connections to a school or business that has a group license to Windows and you are not a Windows insider from earlier this year then no. G2A sells discounted Windows keys and you may be able to purchase one off Reddit for cheap. Otherwise, there is no legal way to get Windows for less than asking price.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

You cannot legally get a free copy of Windows without being in Microsoft's Insider program.  If you're a student somewhere (usually only the case for university students) or work at a reasonably large company/institution of some sort, you might be able to get a deal through your university/employer to get discounted Windows discs/keys, and other software.  E.g.: my dad's company has a deal with Microsoft where employees can purchase the full bells-and-whistles newest version of Office, for personal use, for $20, and my university had discounts between (usually) 15% and 30% through various manufacturers.  Aside from that, though, there's no guaranteed way to get a free, legal copy of Windows.  Unless you count the free upgrade from 7/8/8.1 to 10.

As for actually free operating system's, there's always Linux.  A distribution like Elementary, Pinguy OS, Mint, or Ubuntu is great for less advanced users, and you will never pay a cent for downloading and installing and using Linux (some companies offer support/certification/etc, but the operating system itself is still free).  Then there's Debian for more tech-savvy users, and Arch for the people who really know or want to learn a lot about operating systems at a fine-grained level.

Linux might not work for you--I don't know if you have specific software needs, and Linux is a bit more prone to weird things going wrong that you have to diagnose and fix yourself, which might not be best if you're less computer-savvy--but of the free operating systems, it's generally the best bet.  You can always buy a cheap Windows key from someone else, though.

You can install enterprise version it's free for 3 months :) or windows insider...

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

it look like windows 7 with a little mix with some windows 8 GUI but of course there won't be the metro UI that everyone hate.

give it a try on a VM first then use it on a real system

Nah man.... Well you can get Windows but without registering your product key, but that will limit you from using all Windows' features.

Or just use Linux, Ubuntu is nice, well you can get like Fedora, openSUSE, etc. but start with Ubuntu.
