You can suggest stuff here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/314050-forum-features-suggestions/

Many people have suggested this already and the answer is always along the lines of "If users can just delete their posts (or threads) it might encourage trolling" or similar.

If you want a thread (or post for that matter) removed: use the report feature.

You make a thread on a problem you've been having, it gets solved. Another user strolls by, has the same problem, sees your thread - doesn't need to make their own as they've got an answer from yours.

You make a thread on a problem you've been having, it gets solved, you delete it. Another user strolls by, has the same problem, makes a new thread asking it.

Then there's the whole trolling matter.

Solution: If there's a valid reason, report it. If it's because it's solved, mark it as solved so others with a similar problem/question can find an answer

If a thread is solved, just click the "mark solved" button on their post, which will flag that post at the top of the thread, and add a "solved" badge in the thread listing. That way, you won't get people continuing to post help because they can see that it's solved, but you will help people in future who have the same issue and come across your thread in a search engine.

If you do have a reason for the thread being removed, report it and we can remove it, but usually there is no benefit to the thread being removed.

"Better how?" means 'How would it be better?'

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
Also, make sure to quote a post or tag a member when replying or else they won't get a notification that you replied to them.

He means, what benefits it would bring. Not how to actually do it.
