I watched a friend play it for a few hours. Looks interesting but honestly not overly impressed.

I decided against buying it and will hold out for The Division instead. Or perhaps get Halo 5 for XBone.

another one just bcuz ?

From the perspective of someone who's never played/watched someone play a Fallout game, it looks pretty good.

Although, it's one of those games that I'd rather watch someone else play than me actually buying the game and playing it.

Come December 1st, my money's going straight to Just Cause 3.

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

Here are my 16 hours impressions:

It is pretty much Skyrim with guns and junk

This is however not a negative point or entirely positive, just descriptive.

1) It feels like a Skyrim total conversion mod

2) Even more important, it performs like modded Skyrim or slightly worst: 30s and 40s on really crowded areas, 60s when it's not being taxed

3) There's just so much ammo. I remember Fallout 3 having a distinct lack of ammo, not sure why anyone would bother with a melee build, other than it seems fun

4) Again like Skyrim, and unlike previous Fallout titles, it seems very stream lined. Very basic, no more stats and skills in fact mostly no skills at all. Now this point might be a sore point for some, I am so far undecided but I am glad that unlike previous game picking a nice gun benefits you immediately, at least on the early game

5) Crafting seems good so far but it seems like they basically traded the "scarce bullets" concept for "scarce duct tape" to artificially slow down your progression on crafting armor and weapons. I am yet to try the vegetable starch thing (Got lazy and just consoled in duct tape and screws)

On top of everything, the fights and battles are great.  Fallout 4 might just have the best explosions out of any game, here's one after a fight with a Legendary: Big boom!

There's a lot to do, just like Fallout 3. I have only played 2 fallout games, Fallout 3 and now Fallout 4. I put a lot of hours into Fallout 3, & plan to on Fallout 4 as well. It's pretty addicting once you get playing it. It's not (personally) a game where the second I get home I sprint upstairs to play it, but if I'm gonna get on and game for a little bit I would enjoy playing it. Typically once I start playing it I get kinda hooked for a while..but I'm kinda like that with all video games. It's fun & there's definitely a LOT to do in the game. I have put in about 13 hours or so since launch, nothing crazy but a decent amount. As I mentioned this is only my second Fallout game but they have added/changed a lot, in a good way I think though. There just seems to be a lot more customizing like with your bases & weapons. I've barely touched either of those & currently I have about 12 missions available for me to pursue at any time. I like having the choice of what missions to do when I want, but I guess that's an open world game for ya. I don't think the main story is anything revolutionary though, but then again even as a single player game I'm not pursing that in fallout. I just like exploring and having lots of missions available & being able to **** some radiated shit up.
