DOES MY DREAM MONITOR EXIST?

Greg_titan

I've been looking for a monitor with the following characteristics for a while:

  • FHD(1920x1080)
  • IPS-PANEL
  • FREESYNC
  • <= 24-INCH
  • And most of all...144hz max refresh rate.

I will be playing games like wow, batman arkham knight, battlefront, shadow of mordor, need for speed, cod:black ops III.

If it doesn't exist.....will it be advisable to buy a 1440p (<=27-inch) with the previous specs and set it to 1080p while playing? (I owe a single R9 390)

Thanks in advance :)

Edit: You can most likely overclock this monitor to 80hz+, but if you "need" that 144hz, the only monitor that fast, ips, and freesync, is the MG279Q. Freesync only works up to 90 fps though and will not allow the refresh rate to go above that without disabling freesync altogether.

PCPP's answer (err, nope):https://au.pcpartpicker.com/parts/monitor/#W=1500,2400&r=192001080&H=144&p=1

it's the IPS AND 144Hz thats the issue only a couple of minitors have actually done it (one's actually overdone it and gone to 165Hz)

these 2 fit all but the IPS requirement: https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/monitor/#r=192001080&H=144&W=1500,2400&A=2&qq=1

Sadly it doesnt, the panels that are being used (my theory) in the top tier gaming monitors (XB270HU, PG279Q) are to expensive to use in 1920x1080 monitors as the pricetag wouldnt be logical for the specs.

Downscaling 1440p to 1080p wouldnt look good :(

The closest you are gonna get to that is a quality TN monitor (or upgrade to 1440p), i bought the XL2420G but i wouldnt recommend it. Too pricey for a 1080p monitor

Depends. I wouldn't count on it. Much less counting on it going to 144Hz

True, but the only other monitor with specs like OP wants is $500+ and has a 90fps freesync cap anyways!

Go for 144Hz TN Freesync then.

I know that you aren't really looking at a 27 inch 1440p monitor. But this is really the closest one that comes close to all of the features you want.

Downscaling 1440p to 1080p wouldnt look good :(

I see that the only possibility right now is buying a samsung with those characteristics but with max 60hz, but it´s a little low for me.

So why is it not advisable to play at 1080p in a 1440p monitor with all my required specs?

Downscaling will just look ugly

and 144hz vs 60hz i wouldnt say is noticeable unless you have used a 144hz monitor before

you need to choose either 144hz or IPS

the only monitors that do both are high end asus or acer 1440p 17" panels which cost $1k+
