Booting up system without cpu and ram?

nope, you need both to boot your system.

nop, you need the cpu and ram in to boot up.. as well as the gpu if you dont have integrated graphics

nop, you need the cpu and ram in to boot up.. as well as the gpu if you dont have integrated graphics

you can boot up without a GPU and no intergrated graphics, you just wont have any image.

I know it's stupid but can you power up a system without cpu and ram I just want to test if it powers on

you need the cpu and ram to boot.

Yes you can power a system on to see if it powers up, it will fail the post but it will power on. I'm not aware of any damage that can be done to the mobo so long as you aren't shorting anything

To be on the safe side, take the gpu out. And just be aware, this will only tell you that the mobo is receiving power and went tell you that it will work when the system is complete

I have the gpu installed I just wanted to test the power switches on my case

 

The motherboard alone does not have the capacity to start up, or test in the way you want it to.

The cpu is required, and so is the ram for the instruction sets delivered from the motherboards built in memory.

You can start the PC without any hardware, yes. You just won't get anywhere beyond errors.
