AMD VS NVIDIA IN SOFTWARE?

Drkrinklez

So I want to get a 750 ti because it has shadow play and that only effects around 2-3 FPS. But a

R9 380 4Gb seems to be better than the 960 for the same price. us amds recording software just as good as shadow play is?

Raptr kinda sucks a lot, but I'm fairly sure you can record with OBS.

no, but honestly OBS will give you essentially the same performance hit as Shadowplay anyways.

The AMD GVR is quite good in my experience for recording, but I haven't tested Shadowplay to compare. I would definitely get the 380 though, it's objectively better than the 960.

Okay, GTX 960 user here personally I can say this card is amazing and the R9 380 is only slightly better sometimes- it's typically a draw. Also the 4GB GTX 960 is a great card as well and a GTX 960 can use all 4GB's of VRAM.

Being someone who frequently uses Shadowplay and other NVIDIA features like DSR I can say that I wouldn't really want to trade them for an occasional 1-2FPS difference.

IDK about Raptr, the only time I use shadowplay is to record something that already happened.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

They're both garbage.

To go more in-depth with Nvidia, Shadowplay is amaze. What's not amaze is that I have to open GeForce Badexperience to use it.

2 things, first Raptr isn't really that bad, the problem is it is software rendering so it will impact your performance when recording.  Although ShadowPlay only supports like 2 or 3 recording formats.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

From what I've heard, AMD's software is pretty bad.

Though I haven't used it, nor do I have an AMD card.

I do however have an Nvidia card, and for me, shadowplay takes off maybe 1fps, if that, it's pretty amazing.

OBS is good, and not locked to NVidia cards. If you're choosing between the 960 and the 380, get the 380 and use OBS to record. No crazy FPS drops and the card will still (most likely) outperform the 960 with Shadowplay.

Get the 380, get a recording program.

I used to be quite active here.

The x264 encoder in R9-380/GCN1.2 is superior compare to AMD older GCN1.1 or GCN 1.0

You can encode 1080p60fps with minimal performance loss using OBS VCE.

I've tried Shadowplay on my GTX 980, and GVR on my mate's R9 390x, both are practically the same quality wise, with bugger all performance hit.

@OP get the R9 380. Better performance, and you can use the GVR (gpu decoder) with OBS.

Raptr is perfectly fine. And amd are redoing catalyst control center by the end of this year.  People saying its garbage are just fanboying.

BRUH, you only own a AMD GPU, I own both a AMD card and Nvidia card and can confirm its poo.

GVR is pretty bad imo, only reason to use it is because of it's instant replay feature where you can have a constant recording to be able to capture the last 10 to half a minute or so of your game.

OBS with the integrated graphics is the best bet for anyone (bar people using Xeons ofc).
