Has anyone ever thought about/actually emailed companies politely asking for free swag like shirts and posters and so on?

 

I stumbled upon this:

Where this guy emailed thousands of universities asking free stuff and was flooded by responses and care packages...

 

Have you had any experience in this? If so what did you get?

I already get lots of mail and I'm sorta mulling over doing it... but kinda anxious about emailing actual admissions offices lol

It's dirty as fuck, to be honest

 

It's free advertisement... And considering the amount of colorful mail packets and cards they send out (a lot) they probably won't mind the cost....

And I'm not telling them I'm binding myself to that university and not actually following through.

My friend does it all the time. It's also probably safe to say a lot of people would call him a big PoS though. Lol.

 

AFAIK he gets tons of lanyards and free drinks from Monster, Red Bull, etc.

Well, hey, maybe this could help out the kid in school who doesn't have money to buy his own clothes.

 

Oh, and it isn't very dirty really, the ones giving the stuff away will be getting free advertisement and they know it.

Yep. Look down at your shirt. Chances are, you are somehow promoting a company or brand.

This is true for myself atm... and probably for most of everyone else.

I'm wearing a Volcom sweater, drinking Heineken beer. I look at my monitor it has Samsung on it, my speakers have Edifier on it and my Microphone has Blue on it.

I take a look at my wall and I see AMC on it and when I look behind me I see several brands because of the component boxes..

And.. so.. on..

Well, basically any clothing you buy makes you a walking advertisement for the company that you bought it from. Nike? Giant check mark on your shirt that you paid for. Scammers this industry is.

How could it possibly be worse to advertise a university that is kind enough to send you free stuff to represent them?

I know- maybe I might even go to the length of buying one of their gpu's once they've sent me some 980ti's too.

Whilst reccomending the ones you've just bought on a stream so AMD will get jealous and send some Fury's your way.

Nintendo Club shut down a month ago or so. That was a service where you can order Nintendo collectibles for stars and you got these stars from codes you got with Nintendo games (and systems)

On the say it stopped, I called up a game store I live close to, to see if they had any codes left. I got like 7 codes from them.
