Posted October 27, 2015 Which 980 Ti? I wouldn't run even a reference 980 on a 550W unit. Edit: You should be fine as long as you don't push the graphics card too much. Posted October 27, 2015 Which 980 Ti? I wouldn't run even a reference 980 on a 550W unit. A high quality PSU is more than enough to run a 980 Ti, as long as the rails are strong enough. They have been tested on 500w gold PSU's, and run perfectly fine, even under the combined load of Furmark and P95. Assuming you don't mess with the power limit when OCing, it should be fine. Nvidia likes to stick to the rules, so at stock, with an 8 + 6 pin connector, you are looking at 150w from the 8 pin, 75 from the 6, and 75 from the slot. That's 300w at most (This will vary depending on reference design or not, so be sure to check the card). I probably wouldn't OC the 980 Ti on a 500w unit, but as far as gaming with it, it will be perfectly safe. My (incomplete) memory overclocking guide: Does memory speed impact gaming performance? Posted October 27, 2015 mildly but i wont increase the power just the clock speed As long as you don't push your STRIX 980 Ti, you'll be perfectly fine. I overestimated the power draw of a 980 Ti a little bit. "It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brain falls out." - Carl Sagan.
