Posted October 25, 2015 If you have a defined pattern and an odd number of values, you add all your numbers together, and divide by the number of values, you will always get the middle value. Always. Additionally, if you remove the highest value from your set, the new average value will decrease by half of the difference between any two numbers that are next to each other. If you remove the lowest value, the new average value will increase by the same amount. "It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brain falls out." - Carl Sagan. Posted October 25, 2015 so basically averaging. Yes, it is averaging, but in order to get the middle value in your set, you must have a defined pattern. Posted October 25, 2015 If you square a number, and then square root that number, you get the number you started with. Weird stuff, eh? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Nope, not if x < 0. The sum of all positive integers is -1/12 Basically, what I'm talking about is something like this" You pick any umber, any one at all. Double it, add 12, divide by 2, then subtract your original number. The answer will always be 6 no matter what number you choose. So what kind of tricks do you guys know? (2x+12)/2 - x = x + 6 - x = 6 no shit sherlock this is some 4th grade level algebra Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Posted October 25, 2015 Author my number was 1. didnt come as 6. lol 1 doubled is 2, 2 + 12 = 14, 14 divided by 2 is 7, subtract your original number which is 1, and you get 6. Posted October 25, 2015 Author Also, a cool trick for multiplying 9s and 11s Basically, just use 10. If you're multiplying say 9 x 23, just do 10 x 23 (230) then subtract your original value (23) to get 204 So 9 x 23 = 207 With 11s, you just add it. So 11 x 56 (10 x 56 = 560) 560 - 56 = 504 Basically, 11 x 56 = 504 Easy math to do in your head.
