New quite graphics card.

That13thGuy

So I made a post on this forum about a week ago asking for help with my very loud XFX r7 260x 1GB. Now I think that it's time for an upgrade in my rig with atleast more ram and maby a new gpu too. I have tried lowering the fan speed in msi afterburner but it just runs a little too hot for comfort (around 80 degrees celsius), especially when compared with other editions of the r7 260x that have better cooling, with a two and wider fans, being quite a bit longer too. I have a really small case (look at pics, used xbox 360 controller for scale) so that doesn't help either. Can you guys help with a good bang for the buck gpu that my systom won't bottleneck?

So my specs are:

Core i3-2130 3.4ghz (I know, I know...)

8GB crucial balistix sport RAM

psu: cx430w

1tb hhd

(XFX r7 260x 1GB)

So what gpu is good in my case? Should I buy a new one, or just stick with this? Maby a bigger case will help? Maby just a whole new pc, not that I have the money... P.S. I'm getting a lot of money for my birthday so thats why I might be able to combine that with my savings for a little more performance.

Thanks in advance,

That13thGuy

The CXs are for absolute low end machines with no graphics card or anything punishing. Oh, Corsair makes good PSUs, their AX models are near or at the top. But the CXs have been known to fail dramatically. Just because it has good ratings doesn't mean it's for everybody.

Upgrade to a 500 watt or above from the top two tiers and you'll be fine for years.

Exactly, i wont argue its good, but if somebody has one, and its capable of running whatever there hardware is, its hard to tell somebody to upgrade

the PSU snobbery on this forum is insane sometimes, I wouldnt use one if speccing up somebodies PC but its fine if they already own it as long as they are not OCing

It's pretty good, it has good quality but the wattage just isn't high enough to power, for example a gtx 960 which is a good graphics card upgrade and great bang for the buck.

You don't need to replace your PSU, don't listen to these people. I wouldn't have recommended purchasing a CX but it's a tier 3 PSU (mid-tier) and there's no need to go out and spend more money.

The only justification these people have for the CX supposedly being shit is a comedy video someone made. Are all the components top-tier? No. But it's not worth purchasing a replacement.
