I'm starting to hate on AMD

multifrag

Bought myself sapphire r9 290x tri-x. It looks like r9 290 is incompatible with my EVGA SR-2. Can't even get into windows with out BSOD. Amd does not want to play with NF200 PCI controller on my board and I have no idea what to do. Probably gonna have to return the gpu and find nvidia replacement. Any good alternatives for 200-250GBP(Used gpu)?

So you're hating on AMD because of the crappy EVGA motherboard you have? What kind of fucking motherboard has compatibility issues this day and age? Answer it's simple: The crap ones, which EVGA loves. Please see Jayz2cents woes with Skunkworks for more on inexplicably crap EVGA motherboards.

That OP

Blame EVGA, not AMD.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

this seems like a common case of pebcak.

an error in layer 8, between the keyboard and the chair.

seriously, its not AMD's fault. either you have a broken part, or you're doing something wrong.

Yes, clearly that is AMD's fault....

Since day one of r9 this was a problem. One engineer was writing about a fix in gpu bios, but amd support is playing the quiet game. Literally no support. Pt1 bios seems to fix it, but no fully. Nvidia gpu supports the pci controller just fine.

This is the first time I've ever heard of something like this. First in 5 years.

The real question here is why the hell do you have such an old chipset board.

Em? 2cpus in one board with OC? You can't beat my cpus with any single board

Me too. Didn't expect that something like this can happen... Just type in NF200 and r9 290. You will find couple years worth of whining on forum just like me right now. I know I'm overreacting just feeling crappy as was hoping to use the gpu

It seems that 5520 controller which works fine with R9. Evga used nf200 to have quad sli and crossfire compatibility... what an irony that now it can't run even one amd gpu

You are really out of touch with modern shit, aren't ya? You know that magical 18 freaking core Xeon that Linus has? Yeah... Get shrekt son.

Also, for the love of god, it's not AMD's fault, is your shitty motherboard. EVGA boards are shit. As another guy pointed out, EVGA likes to make shit boards, and JTC made a video or two with that very idea.

I'm surprised more by the fact that this is not AMD's thing to fix - the PCIe interface is where their work ends and EVGA's begins. Keeping in Mind that EVGA are partnered with Nvidia - I'm skeptical is all.

Damn... Alright. Haven't looked at Xeons since they started to get OC locked. Well, it's not that impressive. Linus got 2.5k in cinebench for the price of 3.3k GBP I get 1.9K Air cooled for the price of 150 GBP. Don't see the problem Of EVGA when the controller is made by Nvidia. The controller works quad sli and cross fire and I've been using amd gpus before on my mobo.
