Inside-out tracking and better displays... this could get interesting.

UE4 is an incredible tool visually, but it's still up to the developers to implement it properly. ACC is partway there but it doesnt look quite proper because of how stuff is rendered.

On the other hand, if you make every game run like the UE4 demos then everybody's PCs will start to combust.

Progress

image.thumb.png.3366228925409f8e7197623f09ab3d49.png

Had a few hiccups with the first batch of parts but the rest is coming along nicely. Internals are all sorted, just need to wire the logic board when it gets here. Really happy with the two-part mount I made for the SLI Pro which I haven't touched in over a year...

image.thumb.png.f520ee1b9092d7ecc3c1a83118bd341b.pngMy word its beautiful

In light of a new wheel rim I decided hte G27 base needs some attention. Turns out the DSD mk1 adapter is horribly out of date now (since he has a mk2 out for 3x the price??) and since the initial quick release I printed snapped at the base, I decided to merge the two designs and add some more integration.

The CZ quick release base plate is designed to mount to the native Logitech hub with the OEM logic board and shifters removed, instead using that space for additional fill material. There is no need for a 70mm hole pattern since wheels are mounted to the peg-style plate adapter hence the open fitting; similarly theres no need for redundant shift paddles since thats all handled via the rim now.

The only bummer is that there are now two loose cables to deal with (SLI and the new usb logic board) and even with hub-routing, they'll still dangle a bit. But Im getting ahead of myself for now. should all be printed by the upcoming long weekend and Ill probably start soldering this week.

All 10 buttons are soldered to their leads, plus the two switches. All verified working on the usb encoder, other than the one button that appeared to have died or was only working intermittently after the DSD surgery. Handles are printed but its taking quite a while to sand them down, but they feel great. Not bad for very low infill (they basically weigh nothing). The paddles feel very solid but I'm a bit bummed they're only white, as there was no more gold.

i really want to try VR.. looked at the HTC pro for a while, but the HP Reverb looks interesting, do you think there is a possibility to get steady 80FPS on a 2160x2160 pr eye resolution. i know that VR eats more into your graphics performance.

but after trying the HTC Vive Pro, i really feel that i still need more pixels. and the Reverb seems to cost the same.

i run Iracing / Assetto / Project cars fine on my 4K display with my current setup steady over 60 fps ultra, and i am really not that scared of turning down the graphics settings if needed.

GREAT SUCCESS

Turns out if you quadruple check your measurements, prints come out halfdecent. Integrated the original AMStudio quick release base into the DSD adapter amazingly well for a first full print. Rim stem is complete, and shifters are fully done (though I may remodel the paddles themselves into a more Ford GT style); items currently in white are up for reprinting when the next shipment of gold PLA arrives. Handles have been plastidipped (my word that stuff is more toxic than spray paint), although fairly horribly because I didn't think the dipping basin through properly, and have the consistency of a coffee crisp bar.

Dug out my SLI pro and works perfectly fine. The base of the mount is done and Im printing the faceplate for tolerances tomorrow.

Small update. Printed some new shift paddles to more closely resemble Ford GT paddles, minus the curve. Mainly they are slightly closer to the faceplate (since the shifter switch is 5mm taller than standard) and larger than the F1 paddles the model ships with and have a stylistic accent. First go at the SLI Pro faceplate came out a tad tight on the tolerances so I've gone back and tweaked everything over.
