GTX 970 or R9 390?

Chumgus24

Hello, I wondering what card would be better, either the 390 or the 970? I already know the R9 390 has 5.5 gigs more of Vram but I heard there seems to be a problem with its drivers and windows 10 and the 970 seems to be the best choice just with 50 dollars more. (1080P if you where wondering)

Thank you in advanced.

A 970 for 50$ more?

No, that is just silly.

The 390 performs all around better, and drivers on both sides for 10 are iffy. Guarantee you in two weeks nvidia will be having the issues, and then two weeks later amd will, so on and so on.

Please show me overclocked vs overclocked the 970 losing to the 390 at 1080P. 390 has its balls ripped off when they're both overclocked

Here is a great deal on the GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card , http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-125-684

In a DX12 benchmark a 970 overclocked to 1500mhz would still have it's balls riped off by a 390 at stock speeds.

PROOF PLEASE... Don't spew that bullshit without proof

The only Bullshit was what nvidia said about Maxwell fully supporting DX12.

Its more a combination of the drivers and devs not designing the game to run properly on any GPU, leaving all of the work to Nvidia, AMD and Intel to finish. The combination part comes from the Nvidia and AMD drivers that caused artifacting, dead cards etc.

They're kinda about the same.

Anyway, to OP. $50 more for a 970 is pretty overpriced. But avoid the Gigabyte G1 r9 390. Those are the most problematic 390s.

They perform similarly at 1080p, but the 390 pulls ahead at 1440p and 4K due to the 8GB of VRAM. The R9 390 is better bang for buck (especially if the 970 is $50 more) so I vote R9 390 (I have one, it's great :))

390. It's a bit quicker now.

And expect that gap to grow a bit more in 2016 games because the 390 has a lot of bandwidth, lot of VRAM, and will gain a bit more from Vulkan/DX12.

That's your proof? What clock speeds? I said show me overclocked vs overclocked numbers. No one leaves a 970 at 12xx boost clock when it can easily do 1550

You haven't heard of asynchronous compute haven't you, stop bitching as it's clear that you don't actually keep up with tech news, your the one who's freaking clueless.

He asked which card is better and clearly all tests show that both overclocked the 390 wins, 1080p its neck and neck, while at 1440p the 390 takes the win. No one can know about dx12, all we have seen so far is like 1 random title, that shows nothing about which is gonna be faster.

Slow down guys... What's asynchronous compute & why are you guys saying it'll impact on direct X 12? Keep it simple & give me facts

So one meaningless dx12 game means the end for Nvidia? Buhahhahahahha. Who has 85% market share again?

Facts are which is better when they are so close is a matter of model and personal taste. Figue out which one gives you the giggles and pull the trigger. Someone will always think something is better than the one you bought regardless. I got mine cuz it's perdy.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

How far does your head have to be in your ass to be like you, I'm guessing 85% cause that's definitely where you pulled that number from.
