Best nvidia 970 Cards

Which brand or model is the best 970 card to get at the moment ? 

With OC'ing: Gigabyte G1 Gaming.

Without: EVGA SSC probably.

 

But MSI Gaming is very good too and the Windforce and other EVGA cards are good too.

You mean Best R9 390? The 390 offers more power then a 970 with double the VRAM which is better for higher resolutions :). If you want a 390 get a Sappphire or MSI.

From a 970, since they are less powerful and cost the same, EVGA and MSI make great carda for nVidia

Got the G1 cos I wanted a backplate, and heard good things, the cheaper Gigabyte 970 prob does not have a backplate... eWWW
 

Boosts to 1400Mhz on its own, tops out at 1565Mhz

Never once hitting a Vram related issue or stutter, its just not an issue at all.

 

I think that each 970 is as good as any other, coolers+manufacturers editing the bios/clocks,... make them different.

 

Find the one you like the look of, most 970's will overclock to 1350-1450Mhz surely, which is a cakewalk for driving 1080p. Stock clocks is enough for 1080p anyway.

 

 

 

/But if your NOT fussed about GPU ecosystem/control panels, go with the R9-390.

Don't care - 390

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

390 Is better. More GPU horserpower and ifmyou ever decide to go 2560x1080 or 2560x1440 the 390 will help. Sapphire or MSI makes great AMD cards.

If you absolutely NEED a 970, EVGA or MSI makes great ones.

Overhyped card by many reviewers, not that great of a card to be honest. Probably even the worst of them all.

It was really big on the '0Db mode' but all cards can do that now..

Zotac's 970 is also decent.

the 700 series use the DCUII cooler the which is not the strix cooler

Hey there, I'm pretty late to the party but let me share something useful to whoever gets the Gigabyte G1 Gaming Windforce:

 

The card is LONG, and it WILL sag. Even with the backplate... I had it for about 5 months and it started sagging and I had to find ways to support it at the back.

 

An otherwise great card, great performance and great cooling.

When I bought mine, I did some research and the G1 seemed like the best choice, so I got it. However, things have changed since then, and I'd get a R9 390, if I was shopping now.

Hey there, I'm pretty late to the party but let me share something useful to whoever gets the Gigabyte G1 Gaming Windforce:

 

The card is LONG, and it WILL sag. Even with the backplate... I had it for about 5 months and it started sagging and I had to find ways to support it at the back.

 

An otherwise great card, great performance and great cooling.

is there something to support the heavy graphic card?
