I have gone from 10 back to 8.1, there is a night and day difference in performance from games to even CPU encoding etc, and ram used at idle.

 

Anyone else can confirm this?

denepends on how well the game utilizes the OS. I mean if a game came out with DX12 then yea it would be more preformance than 8,1

the difference is there, just negligable but the performance from win 10 is supposed to be DirectX 12 but almost nothing uses that so far.

FYI - Something to disable if need be,...Win10 Superfetch service is the CULPRIT of HighMemory usage/aggressive file caching and page-filing.

I upgraded/guided two gaming machines for friends to W10 and set them up, they perform no differently.

There should be NO major difference between them.

Yeah, same. If anything i've seen improvements. I also tweak the shit out of both 8.1 and 10 before i use it though.

Well.. In my opinion it goes like this: Windows 7<Windows 8.1<Windows 10.

 

My Laptop running 8.1 uses up so much more ram. Its currently using 4.9 gigs with three tabs open.

My desktop, running 10 is using up 3.2 and has 2 desktops open, one with 7 tabs, the other with three tabs and skype open

 

Windows 10 feels much smoother, even when using a 3 year old harddrive and I am loving the multiple desktops thing

If you have a big drop in performance with Windows 10, be sure to have all your Windows 10 drivers installed (and latest versions).

Windows 10 is better than 8 in every aspect IMO.
