R9 390x, R9 390, R9 290X, R9 290 and maybe maybe.. R9 280x/R9 380 if the first couple are too expensive.

The Nvidia counterparts are not as good in 1440p gaming as AMD in this price range. But I don't know if the 280x or 380 will perform super good at that resolution

Sadly you can't get a GPU capable of that for your price range. If you want to spend a bit more, go with  the R9 390. ;)

if you're playing league of legends, you can run it on your intel iGPU

if you're playing gta v on max, you need r9 290 or greater

This R9 290x is an unbelievable steal at $250 after rebate. Lifetime warranty too. I would jump on this quick, the 290x is an unbelievable card. I mean an R9 290 is a ridiculous steal at $250, but a fucking 290x? That was the AMD flagship until three months ago and it is slightly better than a GTX 970, especially at higher resolutions like 1440p.

For anyone with an i5 or better for their CPU and who doesn't mind the power draw (replace your light bulbs if you want to use less power!), there is no other GPU in the $200-$300 range that makes any sense whatsoever right now. Hell, the 290x should be pretty comparable to the 390 other than having half the VRAM. But I wouldn't get hung up on the VRAM, having 4GB is a lot.

Guess i will save up for R9 390 (:

Dude, consider that 290x I posted above. The 290x and 390 have really similar performance.

If you're saving up, it's either GTX 970 or R9 390.

It's your choice on which comprise you're going for.
