8 way crossfire?

Because crossfire is done through PCIe now. Could 8 way crossfire be acheived with some PCIe risers and a motherboard with 8 slots? I'm not saying this would be useful at all, just a thing.

nope, at least not in crossfire. could you run them? yes. all 8 in a game? nope

get a 5960x, run them in 4x, and they could be there. you wont use more than 4 because drivers, but theyll be there

They wouldn't make drivers to support such a horrible experience

4 is the lower limit due to drivers. 

There are motherboards with more than 7 pcie slots.
